POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro, unbeatable in the mid-range

Before beginning to explain what these LITTLE F5 and LITTLE F5 Pro offer us, it is important to point out that, in the case of the latter, either we can be talking about the upper part of the mid-range or the entry point of the high-end, since the consideration of these segments is highly variable and, in most cases, something quite personal. Be that as it may, whether we want to fit them into one or another label, or we decide to do without them, the proposal is really attractive.

Some time ago, leaks began to arrive about these new smartphones from the always reliable POCO, which suggested that their launch was imminent. Now the wait is over and, as we can see by reviewing its specifications, everything indicates that the wait has been worth it. So, as you are surely wanting to know what they offer us, let’s go directly with their specifications.

As you can see, there are many points in which both models coincide, although there are enough differences between the two to fully justify the leap marked by the company between the POCO F5 and its older brother, the Pro model. The first difference is found in the screen, since despite the fact that both are practically the same size (the Pro’s is 0.03 inches smaller), the POCO F5’s has a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 dotswhile that of the POCO F5 Pro scales up to 3,200 x 1,440 points and, in addition, it is compatible with Dolby Vision. In both cases, its refresh rate reaches 120 hertztheir standard brightness is 500 nits, they represent 100% of the DCI-P3 color space and, for your protection, they mount Corning Gorilla Glass Victory.

Inside, commanding both devices, we also find different SoCs. For the POCO F5, the company has opted for a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, thus marking the debut of this Qualcomm chip on the market. The POCO F5 Pro takes a leap up, mounting a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, a somewhat older chip but with higher performance. In both cases we found models with 8 and 12 gigabytes of RAM accompanied by 256 gigabytes of storage, but the Pro also offers us a more ambitious configuration, with 12 gigabytes of RAM and 512 gigabytes storage.

POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro, unbeatable in the mid-range

Regarding their connectivity, both models are practically identical, with only one small but striking difference, and that is the POCO F5 has an audio minijack, which however we do not find in the Pro. For the rest, in the wireless section, both models offer 5G dual SIM, which is complemented by WiFi a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, geopositioning with the main satellite and infrared networks for IR Blaster. And, of course, in both we find a USB-C port for data and battery charging, 5,000 milliamps in the F5 and 5,160 milliamps in the F5 Pro, both with a fast charging function of up to 67 watts. And, in this regard, another noteworthy detail is that the phone includes, in both models, a fast charger.

We found no differences in the photographic section. Both models offer a main camera made up of three elements, a 64-megapixel wide-angle with f / 1.79 number and that acts as the main sensor, accompanied by an 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide angle and a 2-megapixel macro camera with f/2.4 number. They also coincide in the front camera, located in both cases in a hole in the upper center of the screen, which outputs a 16-megapixel sensor with f / 2.45 number.
