Poe allows you to create custom chatbots

In the current boom in services based on artificial intelligence, Poe is a most interesting proposal since, instead of adding another generative model to the list, what it does is group the most interesting options in a single service-app. After spending a few months in closed beta, Quora decided to make the jump to open beta at the beginning of February, although only for iOS users. But this was temporary, since in mid-March it also became accessible via the web, in addition to adding new chatbots and starting to offer a payment plan that provides greater access to GPT-4 and Claude+.

Currently, Poe provides access to Sage, GPT-4, Claude+, Claude-instant, ChatGPT, and DragonFly bots, a fairly wide selection (many will miss the Bing chatbot, but Microsoft probably does not allow its inclusion in third-party services) and that, for example, is very practical if we want to ask the same question to different models and compare the answers they give. offer each of them. This, over time, will help us to know which of them we should turn to for each type of doubt and query.

In this way, despite not having its own model, Quora has managed to make Poe the preferred option for many users, because although everything it offers is also available on other platforms, both the selection of chatbots and a very clean interface and well thought out make it quite comfortable to use this service, either through its app or directly from the web interface.

Now, saying that it does not have its own chatbots is no longer entirely correct. It is true that it continues to use third-party models but, after its last update, now Poe allows us to create and share custom chatbots. And how is this done? Well, it’s really simple. We will only have to choose the model that we want to use and, then, indicate the characteristics that we want the answers that it provides to have. In this way, each time we use the chatbot, the entry prompt will be combined with these indications.

To make it clearer, imagine that you want a chatbot that answers queries as if we were in the Golden Age. Well, its configuration could be something like this:

Once the settings have been made and the new chatbot created, it will be added to the bar on the right. And of course, you can create as many chatbots as you want.

Keep in mind, of course, that all the chatbots you create will be shown in your user profile, so if you intend to keep it private, you will not be able to use this function.

With the chatbot created, you will only have to make your first query and, as you will be able to verify, the response will adapt to the guidelines that you have set when creating it:
