Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart requirements leaked

He Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart leap to PC It is one more step in Sony’s plan to gradually bring some of the PlayStation exclusives to the PC world, a rather intelligent move, as it allows it to expand the scope of its games, which translates into improving their income, and also for giving PC gamers more visibility of their ecosystem, which may translate into some of them being encouraged to make the leap to PlayStation.

The execution of the plan, however, it is not turning out as fine as one might wish. On the one hand, we have found ports as insultingly bad as The Last of Us Part I, and lists of technical specifications more bloated than a soufflé, designed in this way to continue projecting a supposed technological superiority of consoles over PC. This, without a doubt, has detracted from these releases quite a bit, but even so, they continue to generate a lot of interest for logical reasons, starting with the fact that in most cases they are great games.

A little over a month ago, a new move in this regard was confirmed, with the arrival of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC on July 26. Let’s remember that this was one of the first PlayStation 5 exclusives, and that since then it has received quite positive reviews, both from the specialized press and from players. Thus, if we review his record on Metacritic, we see that his notes are 88 (out of 100) by the professionals, and 8.5 out of 10 with regard to the evaluations of the players.

Despite the fact that there are less than two weeks left before its arrival on the market, and that it is already available for pre-purchase, it issurprisingly, its technical requirements have not yet been published. Personally, it’s hard for me to understand how a game starts to be marketed (even in pre-purchase mode) without informing about it, but hey, the video game sector is becoming more strange and incomprehensible with each passing day, so we can say that it fits into this new normal.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart requirements leaked

Be that as it may, an involuntary publication (which has already been removed) by Insomniac Games and Nixxes Software, echoed by Wccftech, has revealed the technical requirements for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apartand there are a couple of very interesting points, one of which is precisely along the lines of the bloated requirements that I mentioned earlier.

Anyone who has stayed somewhat up-to-date on Sony’s PlayStation 5 communications will have heard ad nauseam about the imperative role of high-performance SSDs, right? PWell, surprise! As you can see in the table of requirements, it turns out that an SSD is recommended but not essential. And yes, it is true that it is in the lowest mode, but it is that according to the explanations that Sony gave at the time, certain technical conditions of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart made it impossible for it to work on a hard drive. I wonder, out loud, if this interesting revelation has something to do with the post being removed.

On the other hand, good news for those who plan to play it and have a PC that meets the conditions to use this technology, and that is that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be the first PC game compatible with DirectStorage 1.2Microsoft’s technology that allows texture decompression to be performed directly on the GPU, without them first having to go through the CPU, which often causes bottlenecks.
