Leaker Tez2, renowned for its revelations on Rockstar games, had announced that the Remastered PS5 and Xbox Series X of Red Dead Redemption 2 was cancelled. The respondent went back on his statement, stating that the project was suspended, at least until the release of GTA VI.
While GTA V was entitled to a Remastered on PS5 and Xbox Series X, many fans wondered if Red Dead Redemption 2 would also be entitled to a next-gen version. It must be said that being able to explore the American West in the shoes of Arthur Morgan in 4K and 60 FPS is rather exciting.
However, recent statements by leaker Tez2, renowned for his proven revelations about Rockstar games, have dampened the hopes of fans. Not to mention the end of support for Red Dead Online made official by the studio a few days ago. Regarding the insider, he had assured that the next-gen version of RDR 2 was simply canceled, the bulk of Rockstar’s forces preferring to focus on the development of GTA VI.
Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X: there is still hope
However, the leaker Tez2 recently returned to its announcement. Indeed, he specifies that his sources did not tell him that the project was definitively abandoned, quite the contrary. According to them, the Remastered PS5 and Xbox Series X/S of Red Dead Redemption 2 is simply paused, and could therefore resume when the development of GTA VI will be sufficiently advanced to assign teams to the project.
“A source clarified that the project has not been canceled or stopped and is still planned. It’s just paused and should resume after GTA VI”, he specifies. As you may know, the launch of GTA VI could occur before the end of fiscal year 2024, if everything goes well. Indeed, we are not immune to a postponement of release, given the magnitude and importance of the title.
In fact, and if you are waiting for this next-gen version of RDR 2, you will have to be patient. GTA VI remains the priority of Rockstar and its studios, and obviously the development of this behemoth prevents the development of any other side project.
