Xiaomi is preparing to launch a new series of high-end smartphones, the Xiaomi 14. All models promise to use the best technologies available on the market. Here’s everything you need to know about these smartphones that promise to do better than the competition.

Xiaomi 13

Every year, Xiaomi launches several high-end smartphones, each of which aims to become benchmarks in their respective segment. In 2023, the Xiaomi 14s are expected, and there should always be at least four:

  • the Xiaomi 14
  • the Xiaomi 14 Pro
  • the Xiaomi 14 Ultra
  • the Xiaomi 14 Lite

đź“… When is the Xiaomi 14 released?

Xiaomi had initially planned to launch its Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro in China on the 1ster December 2022. However, due to national mourning, the Chinese manufacturer was forced to postpone its conference, which was finally held on December 14.

This year, the Xiaomi 14 should arrive much faster than expected, since we expect a presentation from October 27. Indeed, Xiaomi is used to launching its smartphones just after the Snapdragon Summit, the annual event during which Qualcomm launches a new chip for high-end smartphones. This took place on November 15 in 2022, but will be held on October 24 this year.

Xiaomi 13 at a good price

Based on Xiaomi’s usual schedule, the launch of the Xiaomi 14 should take place in China at the beginning of the following month, in November 2023, but a release as early as the end of October is also possible. As for their release in France, as usual, we will probably have to wait until the first quarter of 2024. Xiaomi had lifted the veil on the European versions on February 26, 2023, the day before the MWC show in Barcelona, and could therefore choose to do the same with this new generation.

For his part, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra should only arrive in spring 2024. It is therefore currently too early to know its technical sheet or its functionalities. However, we already know that it will arrive in Europe, because Xiaomi is already testing an international version of the smartphone. It has the model number 24030PN60G.

đź’° What is the price of the Xiaomi 14?

Last year, Xiaomi made its mark by significantly increasing the prices of all its Xiaomi 13s compared to previous generations. The Xiaomi 13 had notably suffered an increase of 100 euros, while you had to pay an additional 200 euros for the Xiaomi 13 Pro, and no less than 300 euros more for the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

This year again, it is likely that Xiaomi will once again increase the prices of its smartphones. The reason is the still very high cost of transport, but also that of components. We already know that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 would be much more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 of the Xiaomi 13, which already cost smartphone manufacturers $160. We could therefore see increases of 50 to 200 euros, unless Xiaomi decides to reduce its margins here.

📱 WHAT DOES THE XIAOMI 14 LOOK LIKE?

The Xiaomi 14 will not be radically different from the previous generation in terms of design, if the first leaks are to be believed. We would always find two different formats. The Xiaomi 14 would still be a compact smartphone, while the Pro and Ultra models will be much larger.

The leaker @That_Kartikey has already revealed what the Xiaomi 14 Pro will look like. One of the main expected changes is to the photo module on the back, Xiaomi having probably rearranged its three photo sensors. The telephoto sensor would notably leave its place for a periscope, which could result inslightly weigh down the device.

However, OnLeaks has, in turn, published other renders of the Xiaomi 14 Pro. On these, we find a 2.5D screen, which abandons the curved borders for flat edges. These also promise to be extremely thin, at only 1 mm, which is a record for the industry. It should measure 161.6 x 75.3 x 8.7 mm, becoming a little shorter but wider and thicker than its predecessor. We also find changes at the back, since OnLeaks announces that the smartphone would be equipped with 4 different photo sensors positioned in a square.

The smartphone would also mark the return of the second speaker on the upper edge of the smartphonewhich made the Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 11 and 12 famous, but which disappeared with the 13 series.

For its part, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra should still rely on a circular photo module, as was already the case on the previous 12S Ultra and 13 Ultra models. This would allow it to continue to look like a compact camera, with smartphones still relying on Leica for the photo part.

đź›  WHAT IS THE TECHNICAL SHEET OF THE XIAOMI 14?

Once the official technical data sheets of the smartphones are known, you will find here a summary of all the specifications to remember.

🔲WHICH SCREEN FOR THE XIAOMI 14?

The Xiaomi 13 was one of the Android smartphones with a “small” screen, and the same should be true for the Xiaomi 14. However, the latter could become slightly longer, in particular thanks to a reduction in the size of the black borders all around of the screen. Indeed, according to the leaker Ice Universe, the Xiaomi 14 will offer the thinnest borders on the market, and these will measure only between 1mm and 1.2mm. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro Max would use 1.55 mm borders.

Xiaomi 13 Pro screen

This change would allow Xiaomi toincrease the screen size without increasing the overall dimensions of your smartphone, good news for those with small hands. The same should also be true for the Pro and Ultra models, which have used the same front design for years now.

In 2023, the Xiaomi 14 could do without Samsung and use a C7 OLED panel from TCL CSOT, the same one found on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. However, the definition should be 1.5K. The Xiaomi 14 Pro would use a new 6.6-inch 2K OLED C8 panel from TCL CSOT. Moreover, this could break brightness records, since we expect no less than 3000 nits at peak. That’s more than most high-end TVs.

The refresh rate of 120 Hz and LTPO technology should be present on all models on this generation, but it now remains to know the precise size of the screens.

🚀WHAT PERFORMANCE FOR THE XIAOMI 13?

Every year, Xiaomi uses the new most powerful chip from Qualcomm, and it should be the same on this generation as well. The Xiaomi 14 will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a chip engraved in 4 nm by TSMC. This will be a direct improvement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and therefore we should expect increased performance.

Xiaomi 13 Pro gaming

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 would rely on a completely new configuration in terms of cores, with a main “performance” Cortex-X4 core at 3.19 GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores at 2.96 GHz as well as 2 “efficient” Cortex cores. -A530 at 2.27 GHz. According to ARM data, we should expect a performance increase of around 20%, and an improvement in energy efficiency of around 20% as well.

The GPU part will be provided by an Adreno 750 chip, and we will still find LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. For the modem, it would be a Snapdragon X75, which also offers ever faster speeds while consuming less battery.

🔋 BATTERY, AUTONOMY AND CHARGING OF THE XIAOMI 14

With the improvements of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, we should expect better autonomy on this generation, but Xiaomi should especially improve battery capacity to reach this goal.

According to Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 14 will be equipped with a 4860 mAh battery, against 4500 mAh on the Xiaomi 13. For its part, the Xiaomi 14 Pro will benefit from a 5000 mAh battery, also a good development compared to the previous 4860 mAh.

“Modest” 67W fast charging

In terms of recharging, Xiaomi plans to pass the Xiaomi 14 at 90W wired, but the Xiaomi 14 Pro will always rely on a maximum of 120W. Both will also benefit from a wireless charging at 50W. Unlike Samsung or Apple, Xiaomi should always continue to include the charger in the box of its smartphones.

📸 THE XIAOMI 14 CAMERA

Xiaomi makes a point of improving the photo part with each generation of smartphone. The Chinese manufacturer can always count on its partnership with Leica to bring the German company’s expertise to its cameras.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra (2)

The Xiaomi 13 had finally replaced the old macro sensor with a telephoto lens, and it should be the same on this generation. We would still find three cameras on the back, with a larger 50 MP Omnivision OV50H main sensor at 1/1.28 inch. It should therefore allow you to capture better photos than the Xiaomi 13 sensor.

On the Xiaomi 14 Pro side, we would find a brand new 50 MP main sensor from Sony, measuring 1/1.28 inch. It would offer a focal length of f/1.4 but above all a variable aperture. We also know that Xiaomi would replace the telephoto lens with a periscopein order to offer better shots from afar.

Finally, since Xiaomi 14 Ultra will arrive after the other models, and it is currently too early to say what the photo part will consist of. However, we know that we will always find four cameras arranged in a square in a rectangular photo module.

The Xiaomi 14 will arrive with MIUI 15

Who says new high-end smartphone from Xiaomi says new version of the manufacturer’s in-house overlay. MIUI 15 should arrive at the same time as the new devices, with new features and better general optimization on the program.
