With its series on Disney +, Marvel Studios allows itself to explore the history of the secondary, even tertiary, characters of its stable. After the arrival on the screen of heroes such as Ms Marvel, Moon Knight or She-Hulk, it is Echo who has the right to enter the light with the series of the same name.
We’ve seen the heroine before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was indeed she who served as the antagonist in Hawkeye. Her particularity is to be deaf and mute, a first for a Marvel series. When will Echo be broadcast and on which platform?
Echo will obviously be broadcast on Disney+, like all Marvel Studios series before it.
Its release date is scheduled for next November 29almost exactly two years after the release of the first episode of Hawkeye.
How many episodes will Echo have?
Echo will have six episodes. A classic length for a Marvel Studios series. Only Wandavision and She-Hulk have more episodes.
What will Echo’s delivery method be?
As a general rule, Marvel series are broadcast in dribs and drabs on Disney+, at the rate of one episode per week (on Wednesdays). A method that allows you to keep subscribers longer but also to generate hype for one to two months. This will not be the case for Echo.

All episodes will be broadcast on November 29, 2023. A “Netflix-like” system that clashes with Disney+. Mickey’s firm did not explain this choice. Does she allow herself to experiment with a minor series? Does she think that the character is not well known enough to generate hype over time? Would broadcasting it in the classic way have caused scheduling problems with other content? We do not know.
Will Echo get a season 2?
Echo was thought of as a mini-series, so it won’t count only one season. However, Marvel Studios could choose to continue the adventure if successful, you know the song.
If season 2 there is not, the character could live on through other series, such as Daredevil Born Again, scheduled for 2024. At Marvel, nothing is lost!
Who will be starring in the Echo series?
Echo, or Maya Lopez, is played by Alaqua Cox. The young Native American actress plays here her very first role on screen. She has the distinction of being deaf and mute, just like her character. She will face Vincent d’Onofrio that Marvel fans know well, since he embodies the Kingpin since the series Daredevil (2015).
The series is overseen by Marion Dayre, who notably worked as a screenwriter on Better Call Saul. Kevin Feige, the great honcho of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is obviously present as a producer.
Will the writers’ strike impact the production of Echo?
Since the beginning of May 2023, the Hollywood industry has been affected by a screenwriters’ strike. The latter are asking for an increase in their salary as well as strict control of artificial intelligence in creation. The consequences were not long in coming: television talk shows were suspended, just like the writing and shooting of many films or series.

However, Echo will not be affected by the strike. Indeed, the series is currently in post-production, therefore already shot (filming took place in September 2022). On the other hand, we can expect significant delays concerning the productions of the next few years. Not only series, but also films.
What will be the story of the Echo series?
Echo will tell us the story of the eponymous heroine, aka Maya Lopez. After the events of Hawkeye, she returns to her hometown. There, she will have to reconnect with her Native American roots and face her past, especially since her New York cavalcade will continue to get her into trouble.
Do you have to have seen Hawkeye to see Echo?
Echo is a direct sequel to Hawkeye. Fact, viewing of the latter is compulsory. to understand everything.
Hawkeye follows the adventures of Clint Barton (member of the Avengers) while on vacation in New York. He is caught up in his past as a gang tries to get their hands on him. This gang is led by Maya Lopez (Echo), who accuses Clint of killing his father when he was acting as Ronin (between Avengers Infinity War and Endgame).
If Ronin is responsible, he had been put on the track of Echo’s father by the Kingpin, alias Wilson Fisk (Vincent d’Onofrio), who then wanted to eliminate a competitor. At the end of the seriesMaya confronts the mobster in a deserted alley. She takes revenge by shooting him. A shot taken off-screen, which suggests that Echo has finally spared him.
For now, few details have emerged on Echo’s storyline. With the return of Vincent d’Onofrio in his role, we can assume that the Kingpin will return to take revenge. Flashbacks may also be included.
What series will be broadcast after Echo?
While Marvel Studios has always had a tradition of announcing its series far in advance, things have changed a bit lately. Only series scheduled for 2024 have been announced, as Echo closed out 2023.
2024 will see the arrival of the Daredevil Born Again series. It will be a soft reboot of the Netflix series with Charlie Cox (no relation to Alaqua Cox, interpreter of Echo). Daredevil evolving in the same urban universe as Echo and frequenting the same characters (like the Caïd), Maya Lopez could make her comeback on the screen there.
Afterwards, Marvel is planning a series on Ironheart, the gifted youngster seen in Black Panther Wakanda Forever. It will aim to replace Iron Man in the hearts of fans.
Finally, we will have an Agatha: Coven of Chaos series. It will be a Wandavision spin-off starring Katrhyn Hahn.
In addition to the series, Marvel Studios is planning a number of films, including two new Avengers. It remains to be seen whether the writers’ strike will not delay the productions.
