SAP buys LeanIX to advance enterprise architecture management

SAP has purchased the german startup LeanIX, dedicated to the development of software for architecture management for companies. With this step, SAP hopes to expand its portfolio of digital transformation products and services, in addition to offering its customers access to the entire suite of tools they need for a continuous transformation of their business. Also so that they can optimize their processes with the help of AI.

LeanIX is a private company that currently has more than a thousand clients. She is already familiar with SAP, since she has been one of its strategic partners for a decade. It has also been from another company acquired by SAP, Signavio. Not many details of the operation have been revealed, and for example the price invested in the acquisition is unknown. It is known that if everything goes as planned, the purchase will be closed during the last quarter of 2023.

With LeanIX products and services in its portfolio, SAP will expand its transformation and digitalization offering to facilitate changes for other companies, as well as to improve business processes. LeanIX complements Signavio’s transformation capabilities, and with the combined offering of both, SAP will be able to offer a foundation of tools for process optimization powered by Artificial Intelligence.

Among the latest products launched by the company is an assistant with Artificial Intelligence that allows generative AI to be applied to the management of the company’s architecture. With it, the level and capacity of process automation can be increased, as a basis for becoming an intelligent recommendation engine to carry out digital transformation operations.

When the LeanIX offering is already integrated into SAP, your customers will be able to have a complete view of the digitalization and process status of their applications and business areas. They will also be able to visualize the dependencies between processes and assess the possible impact of their transformations on their activity. Of course, LeanIX will continue to offer its services also for environments that are not related to SAP, as confirmed in the statement announcing its purchase.

Christian Klein, CEO of SAPhas highlighted that «Systems and processes go hand in hand. Together with LeanIX, we want to offer a leading transformation suite to offer holistic support to our clients in their business transformation processes. Drawing on our decades of experience, we will integrate generative AI to deliver self-optimizing applications and processes that can help businesses achieve key objectives, such as maximizing cash flow while minimizing environmental impact.«.
