SAS Viya Analytics Suite Now Available on Azure Marketplace from Microsoft, allowing business users to access its features through a pay-as-you-go model. In addition to offering the aforementioned facility, the company has made this decision due to the rising trend of buying business software on marketplaces instead of through its developers.
The edition of SAS Viya that will be in the Azure Marketplace will include a learning center within the application itself, with which SAS hopes to help employees of companies that are starting to use it have more facilities to use it. Other components of Viya from SAS will be Visual Analytics, Visual Statistics, Visual Data Mining and Machine Learning, Model Manager, Studio Analyst, Information Governance, Econometrics and Optimization.
The price of SAS Viya in the Azure Marketplace will be based on the computing resources that customers use, as confirmed by SAS. The company has also stated that the launch of Viya in the Azure marketplace is an extension of the strategic agreement that it announced with Microsoft in June 2020. That agreement, based on SAS integrations in Microsoft tools and cloud solutions for Azure, had the goal of enabling enterprises to migrate their analytics workloads to the cloud, with Azure as the preferred cloud provider for SAS.
But this preference is not exclusive. According to Jay Upchurch, SAS CIO, Viya will be available in other marketplaces in the future, although there is no scheduled date for it yet. In the meantime, “Viya’s availability in the Azure Marketplace gives companies the option to run the suite with a single click and on a pay-as-you-go model. These options are the perfect way to combat any headwinds related to economic uncertainty ahead.«.
