Shopify launches Commerce Components for the retail sector

Shopify just announced the launch of Commerce Components by Shopify (CCS)a set of technological components that can be used by retail stores from Shopify to integrate with your own systems.

Thanks to its components, Shopify is one of the most powerful retail platforms in the world, it has taken almost two decades to build, optimize and scale an infrastructure, which today has processed more than half a trillion dollars globally. In 2021 it contributed more than 2.5 billion euros to the economy and created 16,300 jobs in Spain, while giving millions of companies full control of their brand identity, customer relationships and data management.

Currently, large businesses face challenges such as the rapid pace of technology evolution or changing customer expectations, forcing them to constantly innovate in order to remain competitive. That’s why they need a technology solution that puts choice first, with the flexibility to integrate and innovate without restraint, and also offers trusted components that help their teams move faster. Having access to all of these components is critical, and to date, there has never been such an offering.

The best of both worlds

Commerce Components by Shopify combines the best of both worlds for retail businesses: access to basic and high-performance components from Shopify, such as the Shopify checkout, which converts 72% better than a typical checkout, and 91% better in the case of mobile payments, as well as flexible APIs to generate dynamic customer experiences that integrate with the seamlessly with the back office services preferred by businesses.

Iconic American brand Mattel will be one of the first large companies to use Commerce Components, bringing its entire portfolio of brands to Shopify.

“Innovation is at the heart of Mattel,” says Sven Gerjets, CTO of Mattel. “We first worked with Shopify on a project called Mattel Creations, a platform for creators to reimagine the world’s most iconic toys. Creations enabled Mattel to move quickly, know where our customers are, and most importantly, leverage Shopify’s infrastructure to scale globally.
