Starlink: find out in which country the service is available thanks to this interactive map

SpaceX, the company in charge of the Starlink satellite internet service, has just launched a free and unique tool on the web. This is an interactive map, which allows you to see in which countries Starlink is available or being rolled out. Suffice to say that Elon Musk’s service is still far from covering the entire planet.

With Starlink, its satellite internet service, Elon Musk wants to revolutionize internet access around the world by offering a relatively affordable solution (this is clearly not the case today) in areas deprived of networks or poorly served. Know that the billionaire is not the only one to launch into the internet by satellite, since the European Union is also working on its own network. The same goes for Amazon with the Kuiper project.

As you can doubt, Starlink is still far from reaching its goal. It is still time to develop the constellation of satellites in orbit, and above all to negotiate with the legislation of the various countries to obtain the necessary authorizations to offer the service. To take stock of the work accomplished and the tasks that remain to be carried out, SpaceX has just published a online interactive map.

Starlink is fully operational in only 32 countries

This free tool simply allows you to find out in which countries in the world Starlink is available, on the waiting list or unannounced. As of this writing, the satellite internet service is operational in 32 countries. Note, however, that coverage is partial in some countries, including the United States. Indeed, Alaska and other regions of the American territory will not be served before 2023. The same goes for all the rest of the North American continent, from Canada to Greenland.

Concerning Europe, the observation is similar. If the service is present in the main countries of Western Europe, such as France, Space, Italy or even Germany and Romania, it is conspicuous by its absence in the Scandinavian countries or the Balkans. As for Ukraine, you may know that Starlink was launched early in the country, in particular to provide civilian and military populations with Internet access.

Thanks to the antennas offered by Starlink, Ukrainians can benefit from a speed of 200 Mb/s. Excellent news as the country’s internet network is regularly undermined by Russian cyberattacks. As for the rest of the globe, Starlink offers limited services in Australia (only the southern part), New Zealand, or even Chile and Brazil. The service has not always been advertised in the African continent, India and Southeast Asia. Nevertheless, SpaceX expects a launch in 2023 in the geographical areas mentioned above.
