While the first season of The Last of Us has just ended on HBO and Amazon Prime Video in France, all eyes are now on what’s next. And according to Bella Ramsay, the actress of Ellie, it will be necessary to wait until 2025 minimum.
As you may know, the very first season of The Last of Us series has just ended on HBO and on Amazon Prime Video in France. In the opinion of many fans, we are ahead one of the best TV adaptations ever made of a video game.
It must be recognized that the work accomplished by the teams of Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann (the creator of the license and director of the games at Naughty Dog) commands respect, whether on the casting side (Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay in head) or writing.
Now all eyes are on what’s next in Joel and Ellie’s adventures. Unsurprisingly, HBO has confirmed that a season 2 is already in the works. Of course, the scenario will necessarily adapt the story of The Last of Us Part 2. But unlike the first opus, TLOU Part 2 is a much denser game, with a much more complex story with many ramifications (its lifespan approaches 35 hours of play against fifteen for the 1st game).
In fact, Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin confirmed that he “it will take more than one season” to recount the events of Part 2. But in the meantime, when will we be able to discover this second season?
No season 2 of The Last of Us before 2025
During an interview with our colleagues from The Independentthe interpreter of Ellie Bella Ramsay has unveiled the release window for the next chapter of The Last of Us. And as much to say that it will be necessary to be patient:
“It will be in a moment. I think we will probably shoot at the end of this year, or the beginning of next. So it will probably be for the end of 2024, or the beginning of 2025″, said the young actress. Anyway, the words of Bella Ramsey agree with those of Pedro Pascal, which recently announced a start of filming towards the end of 2023.
Note also that Neil Druckmann has already started teasing this season. On Twitter, the games art director posted an artwork of the next part of The Last Of Us (seen above). We can see a muscular forearm armed with a hammer, on a background of forest fires. A direct reference to Abby, central character of The Last of Us Part 2.
