Samsung is preparing the release of the next S22. They should have the right to a glass back according to the first rumors.
While Apple made the announcement of its iPhone 13 just a few weeks ago, it will soon be the turn of its historic Korean competitor to come and find a place in the world of high-end smartphones. With the remarkable and very successful arrival of several manufacturers in recent years, Samsung seems to have lost its luster, and the Asian brand is not “the” ultimate solution to bypass Apple.
While it was for a long time a cut above the rest of the competition when it comes to Android phones, now this lead is melting like snow in the sun. In order to keep its turn ahead, Samsung reinvents itself and does not hesitate to innovate, even if it means catching everyone by surprise, as was the case with the release of the Fold and the Flip.
Samsung Galaxy S22: glass back
In addition to these daring phones, the Korean brand has kept a very interesting high-end line with the S20 and S21 which are now available in three models, the “classic” S21, Ultra and Plus. These three models should still be relevant with regard to the S22 whose arrival is imminent.
While the S21 had been entitled to a polycarbonate or plastic back, with the other two models entitled to a glass back, things should change with regard to the S22, which is expected for next February.
It was the Ice Universe leaker who confirmed the information on Twitter. While plastic is a less slippery and stronger material than glass, consumer feedback is very bad regarding the lack of a glass back on Samsung’s phone. The latter would be quite “poor” on such a high-end phone.
A more compact design
While the phone already had a fairly large design, above 6 inches, Samsung reportedly made the choice to reduce the phone’s dimensions a bit for the S22 compared to the S21. So the “classic” version of the phone should be 6.06 ″ inches, while the S21 is 6.2 ″ inches. Regarding the “Plus” model, it should be 6.55 inches against 6.7 inches.
Finally, with regard to the Samsung S22 Ultra, the latter should measure a little more than 6.8 inches with a design different from other phones. Indeed the latter should have the right to angular edges and not rounded, thus taking again the features of the Galaxy Note.
