The success of the AirTag may lead to the launch of a second generation

AirTags

It is true that since before the market was launched the tracker Apple, many have been criticized for being used to spy on people without their consent. A somewhat absurd discussion. It does not occur to anyone to criticize Victorinox for making their wonderful knives. A tool that in the hands of an assassin can kill a person.

So maybe someone use a AirTag with bad intentions, but the truth is that the vast majority of the more than 50 million users who already have one use it for what it was designed for: locating your keys, your wallet, your bag, or your bicycle. Now in Cupertino, a new generation of Apple’s controversial accessory is being considered.

The famous analyst of the Apple environment Ming Chi Kuo has talked (or rather, written) about the famous AirTag trackers that the guys from Cupertino launched more than a year ago.

Kuo has posted these days on his account Twitter that sales of the AirTag have grown gradually since it was launched last year. Estimates of the number of AirTag units sold have reached 20 million in 2021 and are already 35 millions of units so far this year.

With this sales success, the Korean analyst believes that Apple will develop a second generation of said tracker, to improve it and further increase your sales.

Kuo has not dared to specify what improvements are planned in Cupertino to add to the current AirTag. Perhaps a more effective method of preventing harassment of a person without their consent, or increase the sound volume of your speaker. It would also not be bad if it incorporated a hole to be able to be fixed to an object, and thus not necessarily have to buy a cover to be able to hook it to your keys, for example. All its competitors carry it, to facilitate its anchoring. We will see.
