Netflix has released the trailer for the third season of The Witcherwhose premiere is expected for the next June 29although it will be divided into two batches, thus lengthening what remains of the series, before Henrry Cavill is replaced by Liam Hemsworth in the role of Geralt de Rivia.
Thus, there is little left to see Cavill on screen again, although his real farewell will take place by the end of the year. And everything seems to indicate that the series will not survive the departure of its protagonist, despite the fact that Netflix tries to prove otherwise, not only having the actor to replace him with, but also having confirmed two additional seasons, the fourth and fifth.
Of course, it could well be a bluff on the part of Netflix, given that The Witcher has been a nonsense from the beginning that only Cavill’s presence saved from burning. It’s sad but true.
Already the first season, the one that was sold as he Game of Thrones from Netflix was leaking everywhere: a terrible script, an uneven pacing, a confusing plot and a level of production that went from remarkable to embarrassing (the dragon chapter could be a bad joke, but it’s not) left the series up to par. medium service refried. Or, at least, that has been the most recurrent reasoning among the specialized press, although nothing was officially specified. The truth is that neither the fans of the work of Andrzej Sapkowski, nor those of the CD Projekt games have ever shown a massive appreciation for the Netflix adaptation. Rather the contrary, with a single point in common as a success: Henrry Cavill. Why then did Cavill share almost the same minutes on screen with two secondary characters?
To all that, the miniseries The Witcher: Origin of Blood did not help to overcome the interest, let alone the illusion, for what Netflix is doing with the universe of the wizard. Not to say that it is considered a real garbage. In between, it should be remembered The Witcher: The Wolf’s Nightmareanother attempt to bring the TV franchise to life that didn’t go too bad.
Be that as it may, it has to happen a miracle for Netflix to go ahead with The Witcher once Cavill hands over the baton to Hemsworth, and it is that if the series with Cavill already leaves something to be desired, without him it is hard to imagine. As much as they say yes, two more seasons. However, they have spent a lot of money on this and have to see if they can somehow make up for it. It will be necessary to see it, although the hopes and even the expectations have disappeared.
