Windows 11 unwanted notifications will soon no longer be a problem. Rather than completely disabling them, Microsoft has found an ingenious system to reduce their number. Here’s how.
With Windows 10 and Windows 11, Microsoft has implemented a notification system inspired by the one usually found on smartphones, whether on Android or iOS. Sometimes related to the operating system, installed applications or visited sites, these notifications appear for a few seconds while at the bottom right of the taskbar.
The problem is that their frequency of appearance continues to increase. Antiviruses, for example, know how to remember you well, even to inform you that they have not found any threats on your PC. The same goes for messaging tools, certain websites or weather apps that come to disturb you frequently and for no real reason.
Windows, application publishers, website authors use and abuse it. Microsoft therefore decided to take the bull by the horns andreduce the frequency of these notifications based on your choices and interests.

Windows 11 will offer you to disable notifications that do not interest you
Certainly, Windows 11 allows the eviction of these notifications via the option of Concentration (a function accessible from Settings > System > Concentration > Start the concentration session). Still, you have to activate this option manually, or completely deactivate these notifications. At the risk of missing important information.
Microsoft has therefore developed a new alert system, which is based both on your choices, but also on your habits under Windows 11. If you very rarely use an application, a window will offer you to deactivate the notifications about it. A method that should prove even more effective than the concentration session, which must be activated manually. Here, everything is done in a more automated way: when a notification appears and you haven’t launched the application concerned for several weeks, the operating system will offer you to disable the next alerts.
Second good news: you will also be able to ensure that certain notifications are highlighted. Microsoft has indeed planned to offer the possibility of supporting emergency notifications.
Called for the moment “Smart opt-out” (we are waiting for its official translation into French) this option will be available in a few months. It is also in the latest preview of the OS. If you prefer to wait for a finalized version of the OS, remember that it should be integrated into version 23H2 of Windows 11. The next major update of the operating system will point the tip of its nose in the second half of 2023.
