What to expect from the State of Play on June 2

Last Friday Sony surprised us with the announcement of the imminent celebration of a new State of Play, its online event for the presentation of news within its ecosystem of PS4 and PS5 consoles, predicting the arrival of “revelations, announcements and more”. However, since their celebration will take place next Thursday June 2just within the framework of the celebration of the Summer Game Fest, the rumors about possible announcements have skyrocketed.

So much so, that the company itself, in the hands of a comment by Shuhei Yoshida on Twitterhas stressed that we should carefully read the official announcement itself, noting that it will be devoted entirely to «some exciting reveals from our third-party partners, plus a sneak peek at several games in development for PlayStation VR2”.

Thus, this State of Play seems to be related to the recent announcement that the new virtual reality system for PS5 will have more than 20 original titles at launch, some of which we could see during this event.

Although attention is certainly still on the wide possibilities offered by these third-party titles. And it is that even eliminating all title games attached to PlayStatios Studios, including some great releases such as God of War Ragnarok, there are still many other games of great interest.

Starting with Capcom, the Japanese company is expected to present some DLC for Resident Evil Village; although even more powerful are the rumors that suggest that we could see the first images of the game already advanced Street Fighter 6. On the other hand, the possible presence of Activision is also expected, with A first look at the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which is rumored to include an exclusive mode for PlayStation VR2. Finally, another of the great expected for this event could be Square Enix, which could finally advance the details about the release date of Final Fantasy XVI.

That said, despite the great amount of possibilities and expectation for this State of Play, we have no choice but to wait until next Thursday at 11:59 p.m. (time of the Spanish peninsula), at which time this virtual event will begin that we can follow through the company’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.
