Windows 10 will no longer have new versions

Windows 10 walks, little by little but firmly, towards the end of its life cycle. This is not something new, of course. From the day the announcement of its successor, Windows 11, was made, we knew that the days of what is still the most widely used version of Windows today were numbered. It was common sense, and unsurprisingly, Microsoft did not delay its first notice about it: its lifecycle would last until October 4, 2025. This came out in early summer 2021, so it seemed a long way off, but The countdown is almost halfway over.

It is true that Microsoft has experience in delaying the end of life of its products. We’ve seen it with operating systems and with apps, so Windows 10 may not be an exception in this regard. And there are reasons for this, since the technical requirements of Windows 11 have prevented many users from making the leap for whom their devices are still more than enough. It is unlikely that Microsoft will accept losing them, so it is possible to assume that there will be extensions in this regard.

So, those of Redmond will have to counterbalance messages and other actions to encourage users to migrate to Windows 11, with the flexibility that it has already shown in other cases, you know, one of lime and one of sand (or rather one of lime for several of sand). For example, a few months ago we learned that Microsoft stopped selling Windows 10 licenses (although, if you need one, you can buy it here for an unbeatable price). In the opposite direction, during the last months the rumor has circulated that the company was working on a new version of the operating system, Windows 10 23H2.

Windows 10 will no longer have new versions

It seems, however, that it will not be like that. As we can read in one of the company’s blogs, Microsoft will no longer release new versions of Windows 10. Thus, as you may have already deduced, Windows 22H2 is and will be the latest version of the operating system.

«As documented on the Windows 10 Enterprise and Education and Windows 10 Home and Pro lifecycle pages, Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025.. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10and all editions will continue to be supported by monthly security update releases until that date.«.

So, from now on we should no longer expect any news in this operating system. Is this good or bad? Well, it really depends on what each one expects.. Those who like to receive and test new features on a regular basis will undoubtedly consider it bad news. However, those who have decided to stick with Windows 10 due to its degree of maturity and stability will undoubtedly be happy to know, as this lack of new features will translate into even fewer problems for the system.
