Xbox Game Pass could be cheaper if you agree to swallow ads before playing

Xbox Game Pass cheaper with ads.

The user base that Microsoft has managed to capture with Xbox Game Pass is gigantic, however, surely a large part of these users think that the service should have a cheaper price. Well, for all those who still want to squeeze a little more out of the subscription price, it seems that they could receive good news in the near future.

Cheap for advertising

in the forums of ResetEra, a user has published an alleged official Microsoft table that would reveal a new modality of Xbox Game Pass with which to obtain a cheaper subscription in exchange for obtaining fewer functions without losing the essence of the service.

Today, the price of the service in its simplest function is that of choose PC or Console for 9.99 euros per month. This subscription allows you to play the games of the chosen platform that are available in the catalog, which is constantly updated and allows you to play Xbox Game Studios games from the same day they are released.

Xbox Game Pass cheaper with ads. Private survey for users.

The new proposal would lower the price to 2.99 euros per monthan impressive discount that surely many would welcome, however, it should be borne in mind that many things would be lost along the way:

  • There would be no more than 100 games in the library.
  • Own games could not be played from the day of release.
  • Does not include EA Play.
  • No member discounts are available.
  • There is no access to the cloud.
  • Before playing we would have advertising.

Most likely, the catalog is quite select and many games are lost, but what is most striking is the incorporation of advertising before playing. These ads would appear before each game, something that we don’t find especially annoying, and that would allow Microsoft to monetize its user base in a beastly way.

When will this type of subscription be available?

At the moment the information shared in the ResetEra forums does not specify much more, so it is nothing more than an image with the details of the two available subscriptions. Everything indicates that the image has been taken from a survey aimed at some users, and the question in question encouraged both scenarios.

We’ll see if we can see some of this in the coming months, although everything indicates that it will be like that, since Microsoft dropped that 2023 will bring many new features to the service. How many subscription modalities do you think Xbox Game Pass will end up having?
