As you may know, the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard-King by Microsoft is currently being played out during a media lawsuit between the Redmond firm and the FTCthe US Federal Trade Commission.

This affair has already made it possible to learn crisp information about the American giant, but also about the plans of its main competitors, Sony in the lead. Thus, in documents shared during the hearings, Microsoft notably claimed that the PlayStation Project Q would be sold for around 300 dollars, which is less expensive than a Nintendo Switch OLED.

A PS5 Slim from the end of 2023 according to Microsoft

Well, as our colleagues from The Verge site have just reported, the legal standoff between Microsoft and the FTC has again given rise to surprising revelations. Indeed, the American company filed documents in which they claim thata PS5 Slim will see the light of day “later in the year”. Here is exactly what Microsoft says:Playstation is also selling a cheaper Digital Edition at $399.99, and is expected to release a PlayStation 5 Slim later this year at the same discounted price.

As a reminder, Microsoft’s statement echoes the revelations of leaker and journalist Tom Henderson published at the end of 2022. According to Henderson, Sony should launch a PS5 Slim with a detachable disc drive in September 2023. This new model, lighter, would be supposed become the only one available by default.

In other words, users would then have the choice whether or not to purchase a detachable disk drive. With this single version, Sony would facilitate the production cycle, which would allow it to increase inventory and reduce the selling price of its next-generation console. Of course, in the absence of official confirmation from Sony, the existence of the PS5 Slim remains hypothetical for the moment. Nevertheless Microsoft obviously has concrete information on the plans of the Japanese firm.
