Age of Empires should conquer the Xbox Series X

Could the Age of Empires saga arrive on Xbox Series X and Xbox One? A special event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the franchise will take place this evening, with announcements. We already know that the second episode should be available very quickly on Microsoft consoles.

The Age of Empires saga has been delighting PC gamers for 25 years now. The fourth installment was released last year on PC, but not on Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One. That could change tonight.

An online event is being held at 7 p.m. to celebrate the franchise’s quarter century. Aaron Greenberg from Microsoft assures us: if you like Age of Empires, you better take a look at the conference, because surprises could be announced.

Age of Empires 4 on Xbox Series X?

For the moment, nothing indicates that Age of Empires 4 will arrive on Xbox Series X, even Greenberg remains rather evasive on the subject. Since its release in 2021 on PC, many players are crying out for its arrival on console. Microsoft has never made clear its plans on this, but that’s what fans are hoping for anyway.

The other parts of the franchise, remastered in recent years, could also make their arrival on the machines of the Redmond firm. We already know that this will be the case with Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition, released in 2019. Nothing has been officially announced, but the game sheet has already been put online on the Microsoft Store. It should be available right after the stream, according to the date indicated in the description.

It only remains to be seen if all the other titles in the franchise will follow the same path. It would be logical, Age of Empires being still Microsoft’s only series to be available exclusively on PC, going against its “Play Anywhere” policy. As a reminder, Age of Empires is a series of RTS that allows you to manage several civilizations, build bases and go to war. The latest, Age of Empires 4, is set during the medieval era.
