Apple formalizes the launch of two new laptops resolutely geared towards performance: the MacBook Pro M2 Pro and the MacBook M2 Max.

The MacBook Pro M2 Pro and MacBook M2 Max complete the MacBook Pro M2 range, inaugurated with a 13-inch model launched in November 2020. The transition is therefore complete; laptops implementing the M1 chip are no longer in the catalog.

The configuration options are numerous. The “base” MacBook Pro M2 Pro features 10 CPU cores, 16 GPU cores, and 16 Neural Engines cores. It is possible to beef up this configuration up to 12 CPU cores, 38 GPU cores and 16 Neural Engines cores. As for the RAM, it can extend from 16 GB to 96 GB. The M2 Pro processor in the 16” MacBook Pro has 12 CPU cores and 19 GPU cores by default. The M2 Max version is “content” with doubling the number of cores for graphics rendering, as well as the RAM, which goes from 16 to 32 GB, by default, but it is expandable to 96 GB. from 512 GB to 8 TB. To get an idea of ​​the prices of these products, know that the least expensive model, MacBook Pro 14″ M2 Pro 16GB with 512GB SSD, costs €2399while the MacBook Pro M2 Max 16″ 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD costs 4149 €.

In addition to offering up to 30% better graphics performance thanks to a next-generation GPU, the MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max are “40% faster than the previous generation”. They support Wi-Fi 6E as well as HDMI 8K. The icing on the cake, the energy efficiency of their chips would allow MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max last up to 22 hours on battery.

Even if the MacBook Pro are the true technological showcases of Apple, the Mac Mini is also a computer very appreciated by the general public. The Cupertino company also announced the release of two Mac Minis, the M2 and M2 Pro models. Their specs are a bit less impressive. The base Mac Mini M2 has an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 8GB of unified memory, and 256GB SSD storage for the base model. At 699 €the range access is not only more powerful, but also 100 € cheaper than its predecessor, the Mac Mini M1. The Mac Mini M2 Pro 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage costs 1549 €. The first devices will be delivered from January 24, 2023.
