Apple will not introduce new computers this year

There are only two months left to say goodbye to this 2022 and, Although we were still waiting for new Apple computers, it seems that finally it will not be like that. Or at least that is what Mark Gurman claims, according to what we can read in MacRumors. We can still experience new device announcements in these last months of the year, but if Gurman’s prediction is confirmed, what seems unlikely is that Cupertino will organize a new event in November, which is the month in which it seems most likely. that these types of advertisements could be produced.

Let us remember that since the day of the announcement of Apple Silicon and, with it, the dismissal of Apple from Intel chips, one of the most anticipated launches has been that of Apple’s workstation, the Mac Pro. And it is that although the leap from Intel to the company’s integrated has ended up being a resounding success in MacBook, iMac and Mac Mini (remember that the Mac Studio debuted directly with the M1 Max and M1 Ultra), we are still waiting to verify if Apple’s platform is capable of competing head to head in the niche market of Intel Xeon, AMD Threadripper and the like.

Thus, when it will soon be two and a half years since that announcement, Mac Pros are still powered by Intel Xeon, and although we have been hearing about the return of the iMac Pro for some time, the surname Pro, when it comes to desktops, is still the exclusive territory of Intel Xeon, with chips ranging from eight to 28 cores, both in tower format as in a specific chassis for server racks. Many signs point to the first Mac Pro arriving alongside high-performance versions of the Apple M2, which, based on Gurman’s claims, don’t seem to debut this year either.

A) Yes, maybe there will be announcements related to headphones and other “lesser” devices, but it seems that the prediction (also from Gurman) that this 2022 would be especially prolific in terms of announcements of new devices and renovations has ended up being somewhat more decaffeinated than expected. The big question is, of course, if this is what was initially planned in Apple’s launch plan (which would indicate that the information received by Gurman was wrong) or if, on the contrary, those plans were real, but finally the company has been forced to postpone some of those releases.
