ASUS Chromebook CM34 Flip, the first with the new AMD Ryzen 7020C

A couple of days ago AMD presented the line of Ryzen and Athlon 7020C processors specially designed for laptops under Chrome OS and we already have here the first model with this hardware base, the convertible ASUS Chromebook CM34 Flip.

Chromebooks are today an alternative to computers with Windows and macOS and have accumulated a good offer to cover the needs of a good part of consumers. ASUS has one of the largest catalogs and the model in question is very similar to the CX34 Flip with twelfth generation Intel processors.

The CM34 Flip is a convertible of sorts, with a hinged design that ASUS calls ErgoLift and that is the one that allows you to rotate the screen up to 360 degrees to be able to use it as laptop, tablet or in between modes of ‘tent’ for presentations, drawing or taking notes.

This hinge also raises and tilts the keyboard for the most comfortable typing position. It should be noted that its aluminum chassis complies with military type resistance standards, MIL-STD 810H.

Your screen is a 14-inch IPS multi-touchwith WUXGA native resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels), in a 16:10 aspect ratio and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. To highlight the stylus that can optionally include the convertible and the detail of housing it in a hole in the chassis for transport and cargo.

The great novelty of this model is its processor, a AMD Ryzen 5 7520C which is the most advanced of the new AMD series for Chromebooks with its 4 cores and 8 threads working with frequencies of up to 4.3 GHz. It includes the integrated Radeon 610M graphics and its TDP consumption is 15 watts. It is accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and PCIe solid state drives for storage with 512 Gbytes.

The rest of the components of this ASUS Chromebook CM34 Flip border on a good level, with support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth, USB 3.2 Gen2 ports and an HDMI 2.1 output. It mounts stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon and features a privacy shutter-protected webcam. Its keyboard is backlit, full-size with 1.4mm key travel, and together with the touchpad and palm rest are protected by a layer of antibacterial protection.

The manufacturer promises up to 13 hours of autonomy. With a “Zinc” color finish and the ability to run Chrome OS, Android and Linux applications, the truth is that this convertible looks very good. We need to know its price. If it is competitive it will be a Chromebook to consider.
