AYA intends to launch more powerful devices with larger screens

GOVERNESSthe manufacturer of portable consoles with x86 processors, has announced that it will carry the series of processors AMD Ryzen 7000U to some of your devices, including AYA Neo Air Plus, AYA Neo 2S and AYA Neo Geek 1S. In addition to that, the CEO of the company has advanced other products that the company intends to launch in the future.

On one side is the AYA Neo Slidewhich is expected to implement a screen of six inches and work at 1080p. Said screen can be slid up and pushed up to reveal a small physical keyboard, much like many GPD devices do. This basically turns the AYA Neo Slide into a response to the proposal submitted through the GPD Win 4with a somewhat more oriented approach to the experience at the PC level without neglecting the controls dedicated to the games.

Initially, the AYA Neo Slide was going to implement an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U, but given the appearance of the ASUS ROG ALLY and the Ryzen Z1 processors and the Ryzen 7000 models with RDNA 3 graphics, the manufacturer seems to have considered replacing it with a Ryzen 7 7840U or an AMD Z1 Extreme. As the console is still in development, the processor change seems somewhat plausible, but the intention to make this move has already resulted in restructuring and optimization of the dissipation system. Aspects such as the price are still unknown.

On the other hand is the AYA Neo Kuna device focused on being a “semi-portable Gaming PC” more oriented to its use within the home without completely abandoning its portable approach, since its screen aims to be between 8 and 10 inches. These screen sizes can be found in the ONEXPLAYER, which implements an 8.4-inch screen, and the GPD Win Max 2, which has a 10.1-inch screen.

The CEO of AYA has commented, according to his version, some advantages in the use of larger screens, such as the space for almost full-size controls and joysticks, that the AYA Neo Kun will have the largest number of buttons introduced in a device of the brand and that will include a really big battery. About the prices of the AYA Neo Kun there is nothing concrete.

Portable consoles with x86 processors are for now an emerging market that we will see if it consolidates in the future, since the Steam Deck, the current reference device in the segment, is today more of an experiment that is going well than a really good product. successful in the mass market. However, its relative success has meant that its rivals, some of them with more experience in the market, have decided to put more meat on the grill.

One point that can raise doubts is the commitment to larger screens that also work at a native resolution of 1080p. This factor ends up reducing the autonomy offered by the battery, which has to be compensated with a larger battery. The result of all this is more expensive devices that we will see if they end up sticking when push comes to shove, because for now the quality-price ratio seems to be a more attractive factor for consumers than the gross power of the devices.

Another aspect to take into account is the debate on whether the 1080p resolution is really used on a six or eight-inch screen, especially if we see that the normal thing when playing games is not to sit still and contemplate the graphic finish, but to be in movement almost constantly.
