Backing up is a breeze with Synology BeeDrive

Synology BeeDrive

Synology today introduced a new device that, interestingly, not a NAS. It is an external storage unit that has software in charge of doing everything related to the Backups. And regardless of the device you use, since it is in charge of controlling both computers and phones or tablets.

Synology BeeDrive, the SSD memory for copies

Synology BeeDrive

Synology’s idea with this external USB stick is basically the same as it does with its NAS systems. The data is yours, and as a personal and private property, you must have it available whenever you want, without depending on clouds or third-party services. To do this, this memory is responsible for making a copy of your personal data just by connecting it to a computer, being able to make a copy of several computers just by connecting it from one to another.

In the case of copies of telephones, the device must be connected to a computer that has an internet connection or, failing that, that is in the same local network as the telephone to which we want to make the copy. Once connected, the official application will detect the BeeDrive and proceed to copy your files, including the endless collection of photos that your phone has with almost no free memory space.

Once you have everything configured, you only have to connect the drive so that the backup is carried out automatically, being able to synchronize data between devices to maintain a single copy. For example, you could take the unit to work and bring it home to keep working with everything in sync.

Small, but very capable

With a size of only 65 x 65 mmthe device has a port USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 that allows it to reach 1,050 MB/s, which makes it an ideal solution for saving large amounts of data. It weighs only 43 grams, so you can carry it in your backpack without noticing it.

Compatible with Windows and macOS, the BeeDrive is available in 1TB and 2TB versionsso you’ll have plenty of space to store all your personal documents and photos.

Is it a USB stick with WiFi?

Synology BeeDrive

No. BeeDrive is a traditional USB memory that, through its official software, connects through the Internet connection of the computer to which it is connected. Thanks to this Internet connection, they will always be accessible (as long as the PC is on, of course), although if you are going to make copies of your mobile while at home, it will use the WiFi network so that the transfers reach a higher speed.

official price

The BeeDrive has an official price of €152.40 for the 1TB version and €254.04 for the 2TB version, and both versions can be purchased right now on Synology’s official website.
