Counter Strike 2 is real and a beta will arrive shortly, according to several sources

Last week we saw a reference to Counter Strike 2 in the latest NVIDIA drivers. This was not equivalent to absolute confirmation that said game was in development or that it could hit the market anytime soon, but it certainly was. left the door open to those two possibilities.

Today, thanks to a fairly reliable source, we can give some solidity to that first information. Richard Lewis, a renowned journalist and host of the world of electronic sports, has commented that several people have contacted him and that Counter Strike 2 is not only real, but that the beta of said game could start at the end of this same month.

I leave you below your verbatim words so that you have all the details:

“Speaking on condition of anonymity, sources familiar with details of the game’s (Counter Strike 2) development told us that there was, in fact, a new version of Counter Strike on the way and they had been working on it for some time. It is almost certain that the new version will be released under the working title Counter Strike 2 and that the beta will take place between the end of this month and April 1, This being the deadline.”

This journalist has also commented on some technical details, although without a doubt the most important is the use of the Source 2 graphics engine. Thanks to the jump to this new graphic engine Counter Strike 2 should present not only a higher graphic qualitybut at the same time it would offer good enough optimization to make the requirements not triggerand that even those with less powerful PCs can enjoy the game.

Counter Strike: GO hit the market in 2012 and its requirements are very affordable, so much so that we only need a dual-core CPU, 2 GB of RAM and a graphics card with 256 MB of graphics memory to run it. This has been, precisely, one of the great keys to its success, how affordable it is at the hardware level.

The most recent reference we have for a game based on the Source 2 engine is Half-Life Alyx, a virtual reality focused title that requires a Core i5-7500 or a Ryzen 3 2300X, 12 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 1060. or a Radeon RX 580 to work. This does not mean that Counter Strike 2 will have those same requirements.but they do serve as a reference to get an idea of where they could move.

Personally, I am almost totally sure that the Counter Strike 2 requirements they will be lower than those of Half-Life Alyxespecially because it will not be a title focused on virtual reality and because in the end, being a competitive game, performance and optimization will be more important than graphic quality.
