Dead Island 2 Estimated Requirements: Minimum and Recommended

We still don’t have official details on Dead Island 2’s hardware requirements, but we know it’s going to be a intergenerational transition game, and that therefore it will not be too demanding, since in the end its technical base will be the consoles of the previous generation, PS4 and Xbox One.

Starting from that base, and from my own knowledge, I have shaped this article where I am going to share with you an estimate of the minimum and recommended requirements that we will have to meet in order to move Dead Island 2. I will also explain the level of performance that we can expect in each of these two levels, and where the red lines that we should not cross will be.

Dead Island 2 Estimated Minimum Requirements

  • Windows 10 64-bit as the operating system.
  • Intel Core i7-4770 or Ryzen 5 1500X processor (4 cores and 8 threads).
  • 8 GB of RAM.
  • GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon RX 570 graphics card with 4 GB of graphics memory.
  • 60 GB of free space, preferably on an SSD drive.

We can take it for granted that Dead Island 2 will launch in games that don’t meet those requirements, and it could work acceptably as long as we don’t stray too far from them, but in the end I’m convinced that this minimum will be what we’ll need to play it on 1080p with medium quality and acceptable fluidity.

Other halfway configurations that do not reach the recommended requirements will allow us to increase the graphic quality or enjoy greater fluidity.

Dead Island 2 Estimated Recommended Requirements

  • Windows 10 64-bit as the operating system.
  • Intel Core i7-8700 or Ryzen 5 3600 processor (6 cores and 12 threads).
  • 16 GB of RAM.
  • GeForce GTX 1080 or Radeon RX Vega 64 graphics card with 8 GB of graphics memory.
  • 60 GB of free space on an SSD drive.

With these requirements we should be able to play without problems in 1080p with maximum quality and a high frame rate per second, or 1440p by adjusting the graphics quality to maintain a good level of fluidity, although it is clear that in the end everything will also depend on the degree of optimization that the game has.

Dead Island 2 Estimated Requirements

The higher configurations will allow us to play it in 1440p with maximum quality and total fluidity, and from a GeForce RTX 2080 Super-RTX 3060 Ti or a Radeon RX 6700 XT we should be able to play it in 4K without any problem.

Red lines you shouldn’t cross

to be able to play it in minimally acceptable conditionswithout resorting to very low resolutions, and ensuring that the game never has stability problems, we must not go below the following minimums:

  • Processor with four cores and eight threads– A quad core/four thread CPU will likely have very low minimum FPS spikes and unstable performance.
  • 8GB RAM: If we try to run it with less RAM it may work, but it will have problems with continuous loading, it will jerk and it may suffer frequent stops.
  • 4 GB of graphics memory: It should also work with less, but it will force us to set it to very low quality settings, and may cause problems with popping and loading textures.

Release date and platforms on which Dead Island 2 will arrive

It is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and after many delays its launch has finally been set for the April 21, 2023, date on which it will arrive on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, PS4, PS5 and PC.

Everything seems that it will not come with ray tracing, but it should have the main rescaling technologies that exist, NVIDIA’s DLSS 2 and AMD’s FSR 2, although it may be that since it is a title “promoted” by AMD the support be limited to FSR 2.
