Discord just announced several new additions to its messaging platform, as the company launched a Nitro Basic subscription as well as a new Activities feature that includes YouTube integration and casual games.
Discord and YouTube have finally mended their strained relationship with a new feature called YouTube Watch Together, which allows Discord users to sync their YouTube video viewing with just a few clicks. This new feature is part of a larger new mode called Activities. The company had recently resurrected the forums, so users are treated to many new features in just a few weeks.
These new “activities” will be available via a new rocket-shaped button, right next to the screen sharing button. By clicking on it, all users will be able to take part in two activities, including “Watch together” or play the new title Mini Putt Party. If a friend is already participating in one of these activities, you can join them by clicking on the “Join the activity” button.

Discord launches a new, even cheaper plan
The company has just announced the worldwide availability of Nitro Basic, a more affordable subscription tier that costs $2.99 per month, less than a third of the Nitro subscription, the price of which is 9.99 euros per month. This new package will allow Discord users use custom emoji and upload 50MB filesbut it won’t include server boosts, HD video streaming, animated avatars, and custom profiles found in the $9.99 Nitro plan.
Nitro Basic will be available worldwide from October 20. Users will be able to head to User Settings and then Nitro to see if it is already available to them. We will have to wait for its release to know its price in euros, but the latter should not be different from the price in dollars. By the way, with the launch of Nitro Basic, Discord will end Nitro Classic, which was available at only 4.99 euros per month.
Those who subscribe to Discord Nitro will have access to a wider range of activities. Only one person in a call needs to be subscribed and these activities can then be shared with other call participants. These expanded activities include additional games including Checkers, Chess, Land-IO, Letter League, Blazing 8s and Poker Night.
