Does an AIO liquid cooling need to be refilled over time?

When it comes to changing our fans for better cooling, everything is very nice, on paper it seems ideal to us, better performance and life of our components. However, when we have it in charge, doubts begin to arise.

Will it be very difficult to install? Which liquid is better? Will it leak?… That is why today we are going to answer the most common question once we have the complete installation, and that is: Do we have to refill the liquid or is this forever?

Fill liquid cooling, yes or no?

The first thing you have to take into account when purchasing this type of refrigeration is that it is of good quality, thus avoiding possible leaks or failures in its installation. Since if this happens, it is not necessary to answer the question, you will have to refill its lost liquid if you want it to continue working. In addition to the danger that it could damage other components of the computer, either due to overheating or a short circuit in the event of a conductive liquid leak.

Once we have a good AIO system we won’t have to worry about the liquid, since this should be in an airtight conduit, which it never leaves. Mind you, that’s the theory. Depending on the type and quality you purchase, it may happen that over time it leaks.

The most practical and similar example would be in the gas circuits that cars have to activate the air conditioning. It is airtight and we should never refill it., but surely you have heard or it has happened to you, that on some occasion you have refilled that gas. That should not happen and if it does it is because some component is poorly sealed and allows our liquid to evaporate to the outside.

It does not require much concern if it happens to you, as it is normal, especially in some cheaper types and brands, and should not be a problem as long as that level drops very slowly over the years. If we have a charging system we will only have to add a little more liquid.

The summary is that these systems should not have losses and, therefore, their content should be the same with 1 year as with 10. However, we also know that not all are 100% sealed perfectly and what happens to you is not the biggest problem. You will only have to be aware of checking the level from time to time (especially if you are in this second case) to avoid that when you realize it the computer is already suffering. Of course, if it evaporates very quickly it is better that you check the system because that should not happen.

The most normal thing is that you have the model you have, any other part is going to fail sooner or you are going to change your equipment sooner than having to refill the liquid in your cooling, so as I said, unless you see something extremely exaggerated, once installed you can forget about this system that will survive without problems completely independently.
