KyTy, the emulator that goes for PS4 and PS5
KyTy is a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 emulator that is currently in developing. This is a developer project InoriRusand like any good emulator, its goal is to emulate PS5 games on a conventional PC.
InoriRus published the first version of KyTy on GitHub last May, and a week ago he updated his code with the software version 0.2. The PlayStation 5 Scene community has echoed this update quite a bit, as the programmer has already managed to decipher some key points of the Sony console.
At the moment, KyTy is able to emulate some Simple PlayStation 4 games and also PS5 Homebrew. The developer warns that stability is not exactly the strong point of the program, and that it is usual for them to appear glitches, that the programs hang or that there is a very low frame rate. The usual in an emulator that is just starting out.

This new KyTy update can be downloaded from the official GitHub repository and tested on any computer with Windows and a 64-bit processor. There are already several tests on the Internet, but one of the most complete is the one done by brutalsama well-known user in the Scene world who has tested the emulator with several PS4 titles: black hole Y Worms WMD.
As for the PlayStation 5 emulation, the developer has provided some screenshots of the emulator running a simple PS5 home brew. This software has also been subsequently tested by other users. The proof is simple, but it indicates that development is taking shape and direction.
In theory, PS5 and PS4 are not that different, as they use similar architectures. Therefore, KyTy is running as the definitive emulator for PlayStation.
Will KyTy be able to with the PlayStation 5?
Emulation almost always needs a significantly more powerful hardware than original. For example, the Nintendo Switch doesn’t have more powerful hardware than your mobile phone, but to emulate it using Yuzu, you need a pretty decent computer.
The new generation consoles pose a big problem in this regard. Regardless of whether the development of KyTy advances and is perfected, that will not mean that in order to be able to move games freely it will be necessary to use a High performance PC. Time will tell if the project is viable and if it is worth emulating a console as powerful as the PlayStation 5.
