HP tests a laptop with Intel Core i7-12700H and GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

The HP OMEN family has a new member on the way, more specifically a notebook. This, per se, It is not surprising, after all, all manufacturers are adding new devices to their product families, while eliminating the oldest references from the catalog. Evolution is the most normal, so the laptop, identified at the moment as HP OMEN by HP Laptop 17-ck1xxx, is something we could expect.

The surprise, however, arises when we learn that we are talking about a computer that has at least two currently unreleased components, and at the same time highly anticipated. That is why, that there has been a leak, in the way of results of a Geekbench test, we find it so interesting, and it allows us to make some speculations in the future. More specifically in the near future, as HP’s laptop tests could indicate that the arrival of both components is reasonably close.

The first thing that strikes us about the HP laptop tab is its processor, identified as Intel Core i7-12700H, a chip not yet announced by Intel, and that would be the highly anticipated debut of Alder Lake-P, the twelfth generation of Intel Core for laptops. And as we can see and we already anticipated you months ago, now we talk about a chip with 14 cores and 20 threads, a base frequency of 2.45 gigahertz and that in these tests would have reached 4,174 megahertz. This i7-12700H has 24 megabytes of L3 cache.

Just as interesting as the processor, is to know that the HP OMEN has a graphics adapter NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Mobile, a GPU that we already told you about a few days ago, and that with its specifications promises to be a real beast. Let’s remember the most important points of it:

  • 7,680 shaders.
  • 240 texturing units.
  • 96 raster units.
  • 60 RT cores.
  • 240 tensor cores.
  • 256-bit bus.
  • 16GB of GDDR6 at 14GHz-16GHz.
  • TGP: 80 to 150 watts.

With the test results in hand, we see that this HP notebook gets a score of 90,114, obviously below the marks obtained by the high-end of the RTX 30 series, but that it can compete very decently with the lower models of the same in its desktop version.

Both components are supported, in the leaked HP OMEN Notebook, on 32 gigs of RAM (we do not know what type, it is not mentioned in the results). In any case, everything indicates that we are facing one of the top of the range with which HP will surprise us (although after this it is no longer such a surprise) at CES 2022. Which, in turn, puts us on the hint that, at the very latest, both Alder Lake-P and the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Mobile will finally see the light, at the latest, during the first days of next year.
