A sequel to Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings, the all-martial arts film that hit theaters a few weeks ago, has been confirmed to be now in production at i Marvel Studios.
While the film wasn’t quite as commercially successful as Mickey Mouse hoped, we all knew in our hearts that it was going to have a sequel and that the director of the first film, Destin Daniel Cretton, would return to write and direct the sequel; while continuing with his secret project of a Marvel comedy series developed for Disney +.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will have a sequel
The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has explained: Destin is an amazing collaborator who has brought a unique perspective and skill to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. We had a blast working together on the film and he has so many intriguing story ideas to bring to life on Disney Plus, so we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with him and can’t wait to get started. “
Cretton has signed a multi-year exclusive agreement with i Marvel Studios and theOnyx Collective from Hulu. The deal will allow Cretton to develop TV projects for both Marvel Studios on Disney Plus and theOnyx Collective, for ie other platforms.

Cretton added: “Working on ‘Shang-Chi’ with Kevin and the Marvel Studios team was one of the highlights of my life and I couldn’t be more excited about Tara’s vision for Onyx Collective. I can’t wait to explore new stories and build new worlds with this community ”.
Still nothing has been revealed about the original cast members, Simu Liu, Michelle Yeoh and Awkwafina, who are likely to return for the sequel anyway.
