Apple has released operating system updates to many of its devices. And in this post we are going to explain what the new versions for the Apple Watch, Apple TV, and HomePods. In addition, we will also review the models that are compatible with these new system versions, and how you can install them.
Core ecosystem products receive updates
On the same day, Apple released iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, macOS Ventura 13.4, tvOS 16.5, watchOS 9.5, and version 16.5 of the HomePod operating system. Starting with the Apple Watch, this new version fixes bugs and security issues, plus add a new sphere in commemoration of Pride Day this year 2023.
On Apple TV, the tvOS 16.5 version introduces a new functionality that is very interesting, and this affects the broadcasting of live sporting events. Although, in the US it will get more use out of it, given that the disciplines where it will get more use out of are baseball and American football, the truth is that it is still notable.
Some chains, in certain broadcasts offer the possibility of Multi-camera. In the same way that happens with the Multisport channel on Movistar Plus+, we can watch different sporting events simultaneously. Well then, if we take this formula, and convert it into four windows that can be open at the same time, to watch four games simultaneously, we have this new feature of tvOS 16.5. This feature will currently be available at MLB Friday Night Baseball events and MLS Season Pass matches (MLS is Major League Soccer). The image will be played simultaneously, while we can select the audio with the Apple TV Remote, passing over the window that we want to be heard.
As for the HomePod, the update to version 16.5 is to fix bugs, and to improve the stability and performance of the speakers. In this way, the main ecosystem of products is preparing for the arrival of the new versions of the systems, which will be presented at the next WWDC.
Compatible devices and how to update them
As for the clocks, the installation procedure is very simple. We can do it from the iPhone, if we are going to Apple Watch > My Watch > General > Software Update. From the watch itself, we can do it if we go to Settings> General> Software update. The Apple Watch compatible with watchOS 9.5 are the same models that, at the time, were able to update to watchOS 9. These are the following:

The system version tvOS 16 can be installed on Apple TV HD (also known as Apple TV 4th generation), Apple TV 4K 1st generation, and Apple TV 4K 2nd generation. The update process is also very simple. just go to Settings > System > Software Updates. As for the HomePod we have to open the iPhone Home application, go to the button More > Home settings > Software update. The version is available for both generations of HomePod and the HomePod mini.
