News VOD 03/23: ‘JUNG_E’, emotional intelligence for artificial combat

VOD news brings you the best new releases of the week on Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+… And this week there is a bit of everything, which is usually said, with nothing that stands out too much, but with JUNG_E as a prominent element, because there must be at least one.

We begin our review of Netflix, where many things are being released this week, some of which are getting their good dose of mentions in the media, such as the new That ’90s Show. However, here we go in other directions.

The first of these paths is the aforementioned JUNG_Ea science fiction film written and directed by Yeon Sang-ho, a Korean filmmaker best known for the remarkable Train to Busanbut also because of its deficient sequel Peninsula. In addition, he had already collaborated with Netflix with a series, the interesting but irregular heading to hell.

Now Sang-ho returns to the feature film format, but does so without leaving Netflix with JUNG_E, a science fiction story with touches of action and existentialist drama, in a quasi-apocalyptic future scenario and the much-in-vogue artificial intelligence as its axis. And although it does not seem to be the work with which the Korean filmmaker traces his career, it is one of the freshest of the week.

More Asian content, in this case Japanese, but in the same way from a well-known and well-known author as far as his creations are concerned as Junji Ito, is what this adaptation brings in an anthological format. Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre It’s a horror anime series, but not the conventional one… although it’s not the most extreme either. Be that as it may, you deserve the chance to keep an eye on it.

Also on Amazon Prime Video there are interesting premieres, see the Spanish film Objects, or the heap of movies and some series with which the service renews its catalogue, including the entire James Bond collection, which once again takes its place. Nevertheless…

The Legend of Vox Machina is back with its second season, after surprising last year, positioning itself as one of the most refreshing adult animation series on the scene. No, this is not another rehash of the typical crappy cartoon comedy and pseudo social criticism; this is a fantastic RPG for adults only that, hopefully, maintains the level shown in its first batch of chapters.
