NVIDIA presents its new graphics cards, and it will blow your mind

NVIDIA had new products in stock in the graphics card department for this CES 2022: here is a summary of the GPU announcements from the green team.

Among all CES interventions, that of NVIDIA was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated. The green team has just finished its presentation and took the opportunity to unveil the new soldiers of its army of graphics cards: say hello to the RTX 3050, the RTX 3090 Ti, and the portable versions of the 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti.

While the industry is still mired in a never-ending shortage, accessing graphics cards is more difficult than ever. The RTX 3060, which was supposed to sign ray-tracing on mid-range machines, saw its price soar far from its output price, and with it, the hopes of many gamers.

In this context, the RTX 3050 arrives wearing a superhero cape. NVIDIA presents the new youngest of the range as the ideal gateway to taste the latest generation graphics without breaking the bank. On paper, this card should be the whole first class 50 card to exceed the threshold of sacrosanct 60 images per second in raytracing.

But in reality, there is a good chance that this utopian scenario does not turn out as planned. The price of the rest of the 30X0 series is always more than 1.5 to 2 times higher than the original price, and it would be surprising if this map did not follow a similar trajectory. However, she has an advantage over her big sisters; since it is much less powerful, the increase could be more reasonable. A case that should be followed closely in the months to come.

The RTX 3090 Ti passes, and the competition passes away

The other element that will deserve our full attention during this period is the announced arrival of another new member of the family. You have just discovered the youngest, here is the matriarch, the RTX 3090 Ti! This real monster arrives armed with its 24 GB of GDDR6X, a new standard with a monstrous 21 Gb / s bandwidth. We can already see all the market benchmarks sweating just by mentioning these figures, and there is plenty; this machine really promises to mistreat them with great blows of tens of teraflops.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date or price yet. We can already say that the latter will be quite simply exorbitant, especially in the current context. However, we will have to wait until the end of the month to find out.

The RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti land in a portable version

NVIDIA’s latest GPU announcement concerns the world of laptops. They will have the great honor of receiving a delegation from the green team made up of RTX 3070 Ti laptop and RTX 3080 Ti laptop. Two cards already available on PC, but still missing in the universe laptop.

The latter of the two therefore inherits the new unofficial title of “Most powerful portable graphics card on the market”, And with a considerable margin. Thanks to the performance that they are already known to, these cards should make the heyday of their future owners, whether it is playing in very high resolution or engaging in demanding creative tasks. Machines equipped with portable RTX 3080 Ti will very soon be produced by many manufacturers and will be available from $ 2,499 (~ € 2,213).

The portable 3070 Ti, for its part, will allow you to play without concession, with raytracing, in any capacity in 1440p. It should also prove to be more than capable of taking on substantial workloads. Good news for artists and other professions who use hardware acceleration on a daily basis. Devices equipped with the portable RTX 3070 Ti will soon be available from many manufacturers starting at $ 1499 (€ 1293).

Max-Q optimization technology passes fourth

But the usual laptop problems haven’t gone away; these remain prone to noise, battery problems, and overheating concerns. To remedy this, NVIDIA has also relied on its Max-Q technology, which offers itself a fourth generation.

For those who are not familiar with it, this is a system that is already working in the background on many devices equipped with Nvidia GPUs; it optimizes load distribution dynamically at all levels of the system. This fourth version promises to push the concept even further.

From now on, this AI-based system will be able to dynamically adapt the load of the processor and the graphics card to allow them to cooperate. It will allow the graphics card to devote its unused resources directly to optimizing the processor. This will optimize the processor load, and thus multiply the performance of certain creative applications by three. We remain skeptical about this figure in particular, but the concept is validated; According to NVIDIA, this should also translate into an increase in overall performance. This will not necessarily be gigantic, but at least noticeable whatever the use.

We are therefore more than anxious to see the fallout from these announcements. When will all this beautiful material be available on the market? At what price ? Will the shortage continue to demolish the market? The answer in the coming weeks!
