On your Mac you have a pdf about Bitcoin written by Satoshi Nakamoto

In all operating systems there are always surprises. Sometimes because their programmers want it that way and other times because they forget to delete certain files and they stay there. But in both cases there is one thing in common: They tend to be found in places where users do not normally access and they are not usually found, at least, in an easy way. But this time, it has not been like that. It has been found to exist in all versions of macOS since Mojave, a pdf that Satoshi Nakamoto wrote about his creation, the Bitcoin. I’m sure you have it too.

This discovery is due to developer Andy Baio who wrote an article explaining that while he was trying to fix his printer he found a PDF copy of the whitepaper written by Satoshi Nakamoto, considered the person who invented Bitcoin. It was at that moment that he asked other friends and acquaintances to check if they also had this particular one among their Mac documents. They all confirmed that the Bitcoin whitepaper was there on macOS. The file seems to have been added to the system with macOS Mojave, which was released in 2018 and is still present in the latest version of macOS Ventura.

It seems that the file it is a part of Image Capture. The software that allows users to scan images from an external scanner or manage the printers added to the Mac. That’s why Baio found the file. Because as we said, it is not normal for these types of documents to be found.

However. The reason why that document is on Macs It is not known very well. It may be that the programmers are a bit of a joker and they carry out the tests with as many pdfs like that or that at the time of doing the tests they have forgotten to delete it. Be that as it may, having this pdf does not imply anything and it is still an anecdote.

It is located inside a folder with assets used for Internal testing by Apple engineers. The same folder also contains other random images and PDF files that are used to simulate the process of scanning and exporting documents and images with the app without the need for a scanner.
