Our Readers Talk: Games Poorly Ported to PC, Is It Acceptable or Unacceptable?

The release of The Last of Us Part I for PC has raised blisters. Don’t get me wrong, it’s one of the best games of its genre, in fact I really enjoyed it in the remastered version for PS4, which runs at 1080p and 60 FPSand the truth is that it still looks great today.

The version that came to PC uses the graphics engine of The Last of Us Part II, a game that was also developed for PS4, a console that has hardware from 2013 and that has been outdated for a long time. That Sony decided to release The Last of Us Part I remake only on PS5 was rather curious, because in the end I’m sure the game could have run smoothly on a PS4. Are you not clear? Well, take a look at the attached video.

There is no significant graphic jumpthe only thing we have are slight changes in design, contrast and the use of color that, in the end, confirm what I have already told you on other occasions, that The Last of Us Part I Remake is a “copy paste” of the remastering under the graphics engine of the second installment, originally designed to run smoothly under PS4 hardware.

Despite everything, The Last of Us Part I has become on its own merits one of the worst ports for PC in all of history. Ratings on Steam have gone from mostly negative to mixed, but this doesn’t make up for the fact that 11,151 of 18,629 evaluations are negative. Something curious happens within the positive evaluations, and that is that some directly do not make sense, because they recognize negative things but value the game favorably.

I have realized that this is a more serious problem than I myself thought, and it is that is being whitewashed and justifying the sorry state in which The Last of Us Part I has arrived on PC based on two nonsensical arguments, that it is a “next gen” game and that it is normal for it to be so demanding, and that on PC it is not optimized as on PS4.

The state in which The Last of Us Part I Remake has arrived on PC It is unjustifiable, it is a sample of work poorly done and one of the best examples of how a compatible port should not be. To defend or justify the contrary is to do a disservice to the PC, and to the entire community of gaming lovers on that platform.

Personally, I am clear that I’m not buying the game because I consider it disrespectful to PC players, and that I am not going to buy more titles that arrive in such a poor state on this platform. Now it’s your turn, I would like to know your opinion on this topic in the comments. we read each other
