Samsung is going to replace the screen protector on its foldable phones for free

Folding phones are here to stay. There is no doubt about it. It is still rare to see them in the pockets of ordinary people, but we believe that it is a matter of (a short) time before they become the usual format within the sector. What all these future buyers will have to learn is that these terminals have some special characteristics, such as their screen saver, an element that is usually removed from the usual smartphones but that here is usually mandatory use. At least in the case of Samsung, where they have even offered to change it for free when you have any problem.

Foldables, the future of telephony

Those of us who work in the technology press and those who are really fond of this world know very well that folding screens are by no means a new technology. We have spent years and years hearing about its virtues and seeing impressive prototypes at events and fairs, however, it seemed like something that was never going to reach our hands.

The ice broke in 2019 with Huawei and Samsung, who presented their first commercial models with a flexible panel. Even with this, many of us resist believing that this would have a future and there were many who believed that it was a mere rivalry between the two brands -a «i have mine too«- and that the idea would stay there. Nothing is further from reality. Other manufacturers have been encouraged with this particular form factor and currently there are several folding phones that we can find to buy.Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

Without going any further, the aforementioned Samsung is already on its 5th generation of the Galaxy Z (it will present it at the end of the month), which means that there is a market here and the only thing left is for prices to become a little more democratized so that we all have one in the pocket.

Your screen: leading star and Achilles heel

These phones have certain peculiarities such as a certainly delicate screen. It is still a panel that we bend without rest, so we must bear in mind that it is a technology with which we must have relative careful. The vast majority of them have, for example, a screen protector that, although we would remove it on other phones, here it is mandatory to leave it on.

So that people do not experiment on their own, Samsung has now launched a program with which it offers the free replacement of this protector, thus preventing people from trying to do it at home. It is a service that until now it was paidbut possibly the courage of more than one user (and subsequent catastrophe with the phone) has made the brand rethink things and put this program into circulation so that no one does it on their own.

The replacement covers all samsung foldables (Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 4) and is operational in the US, UK, Australia and in South Korea (although in the latter it only applies to the Fold and Flip 4). TO Spain It seems that it has not yet arrived, we imagine that due to a question of market share with these specific models, but perhaps it will sooner rather than later.

In any case, if you have one, never try to change the protector on your own and notify Samsung technical service. Damage to the screen could be irreparable. (emisorasunidas.com)
