With a post on the official SEGA blog, the announcement of the partnership signed between the Japanese company and Microsoft, for the creation of what the two companies define as “Super Games“.
SEGA and Microsoft will work together to create “Super Games”
“We are proud to announce that we have laid the foundation for a strategic alliance with Microsoft to deliver the ‘Super Game’ project and to create a next generation game development environment.” commented Yukio Sugino, President and COO of SEGA Corporation.
“Our goal will be to further advance the development of our titles in order for them to be enjoyed by fans around the world. We therefore aim to build an alliance that leverages both SEGA’s powerful gaming capabilities and Microsoft’s cutting-edge technology and development environment. “
Apparently, Microsoft will make available Azure (a proprietary cloud technology of the Redmond house), thus allowing SEGA to make big titles in a next-gen context based on cloud gaming.
Sarah Bond, CVP of Microsoft Corporation wanted to comment on the news with great enthusiasm:
“SEGA has played such an iconic role in the gaming industry and has been an amazing partner over the years. We look forward to working together as they explore new ways to create unique gaming experiences for the future using Microsoft’s cloud technologies. Together we will reinvent the way games are built and run. “
The games developed by the two teams will follow three fundamental key principles:
- They will be Global
- Online
- Focused on a large community
It seems that one of these titles will be an online shooter, while a second game could certainly be the one in the pipeline at Creative Assembly.
