Surface Go 3 receives a major firmware update

Microsoft has released a major firmware update for Surface Go 3although its deployment is taking place gradually, as usual, which means that it may not appear as available yet even if you meet all the key requirements to proceed with its installation, including the version of Windows required.

The official information we have confirms that this update brings a very important as well as mysterious novelty, a new “system configuration”. We say that it is mysterious because Microsoft has not specified anything about this configuration so we have no idea what it offers, nor what changes it may represent. We will have to wait for more information to appear in this regard.

Here is a full summary with everything you need to know about this update, including the installation process:

  • Update Name: Surface – Firmware – 3.1.1.12.
  • Windows Device Manager: Surface ISH – Firmware.
  • Compatible devices: Surface Go 3 (2021) in all its configurations.
  • How to get the update: through Windows Update or the official Surface website.
  • Installation process: automated through Windows Update, manual if we download through the Surface website.
  • Known Issues and Additional Steps: No issues have been identified and no additional steps are required.

It is important that you bear in mind that a firmware update cannot be reversed, and that is why it is recommended to carry out a backup before any installation of this type of update. Surface Go 3 will have support until October 5, 2025so it still has a long life ahead of it.
