Synology has expanded its range of file management and administration units DiskStation with two new models: DS224+ and DS124. Designed for professionals and edge deployments, as well as those who need file storage and sharing on a small form factor disk system, they are powered by Synology DiskStation Manager operating system.
Both units offer tools for the protection and administration of sensitive data, as well as for accessing and managing files remotely. They also allow you to monitor their physical properties, with a compact desktop format. They achieve this thanks to the Synology Drive private cloud solution, which combines cross-platform access and advanced privacy controls.
In both it is also possible to make backup copies of all types of equipment, from workstations to laptops and mobile devices. In addition, they will be able to configure them so that, in addition to making manual copies, they can be made continuously. Or, if your users prefer, run a custom backup schedule, on both Windows and macOS systems, to back up necessary information when it’s convenient for them.
In addition to copying data, individual folder stations, system settings, and software packages stored on a Synology device can also be backed up and uploaded to the cloud, as well as to Synology secondary systems or external devices.
Unit Synology DiskStation DS224+ offers an edge deployment for small to moderately sized teams. With it there is a data redundancy unit in RAID configuration, or two drive bays for storage.
It has advanced synchronization features, which enables data synchronization at various points. Additionally, it supports multiple global deployments, giving you the opportunity to keep both teams and branches in sync with an office or headquarters. It has an Intel x64 quad-core CPU and 2 GB of memory, which can be expanded to a maximum of 6 GB.
As for the Synology DiskStation DS124, with a single bay, is intended for SMEs and professionals who want to protect and store their data. Its management is made easy by mobile apps, such as Synology Photos and Synology Drive, with which you can easily back up and sync files. Its processor is ARM, and it incorporates 1 GB of memory.
On the other hand, it is equipped with a synchronization system on demand, which allows unit users to download part of their data stored locally in the DS124. This minimizes the need to store them on laptops or workstations. It stands out for its desktop format and its low energy consumption, which helps contain expenses in a company.
Ivan Gento, Synology Marketing Executive for Iberia and Africahas underlined in the case of these two units of the DiskStation range that «the range of synchronization features that they support right out of the box means they are ready to fit into almost any existing implementation«. Both Synology DiskStation DS224+ and DiskStation DS124 are available now from Synology partners and resellers.
