The Apple Watch has a new extreme security mode

With the new features introduced in iOS 17, Apple Watch now has an extreme security feature. This was already present on the Mac, iPad and iPhone. And now it is the turn of the watch of the Cupertino company. In addition, improvements have been made to this functionality. do you want to know what is it about? In this post we tell you all the details.

Isolation mode, now improved

This extreme security mode literally it isolates our devices from any input it may receive from the outsidein terms of content, notifications, messages and, ultimately, all communication that involves any type of data transfer.

This feature is activated manually, and until now, it had to be activated individually on each device. However, the improvement means that can now be activated togetherfor all the devices that we have linked to our Apple ID.

If we start this mode of isolation the following will occur:

  • All attachments, links and previews of the messages we receive will be blocked.
  • Web browsing will be limited to basically text, plus websites will load very slowly because most browsing technologies will be blocked.
  • Incoming FaceTime calls are blocked.
  • iCloud Shared Albums are turned off.
  • If we have not invited anyone to be part of our Apple services. Incoming invitations will be blocked.
  • Every time we want to connect our device to a computer, or connect an accessory, we must unlock it and give authorization.
  • Profiles cannot be installed.

These features will only be enabled for the duration of isolation mode. However, this can be deactivated again, and thus have all the functions with total normality, in terms of availability and use.

Now, it is important to note that this feature is only mentioned in the iOS 17 preview. There is no talk about it, at least for now, in the news of watchOS 10. In the same way, Apple does not give more details about what features will be limited on the watch, what functions or sections will be blocked, or what will to happen with the functionalities of the different sensors that mount the Apple Watch.

Even so, and despite the fact that the company’s statement is concise, it is appreciated having this type of coverage (against “extremely rare but very sophisticated cyberattacks”, as they explain on their official website), since The entry barrier for unauthorized persons will be made difficult, to all the information related to our Apple ID, which is not little:
