Very slowly, the Spanish Administration is becoming more digital. That is, every time more and more procedures can be carried out with our Digital Certificatewithout traveling, without prior appointments and without waiting in line or for the official on duty to finish breakfast.
There are two fundamental actions that we can carry out with our Digital Certificate, one is to identify and access to information and the other is to sign petitions before the Administration officially and legally identifying that we are the petitioners.
Although the first option works like a charm, the truth is that even in iOS the second action is science fiction. The security protocols established for the digital signature gateway are not possible with iOS, and while a signature gateway app existed, it is no longer operational.
Let’s hope that it is something that they solve soon, so that we can complete procedures through our iPhone such as submitting requests, applications, contributing documents to files, etc. and can be signed using the Digital Certificate on our iPhone.
Install the Digital Certificate on our iPhone
The steps to follow to get to install the Digital Certificate on our iPhone, they’re easy. The installation does not require more than two minutes if we have previously obtained the Digital Certificate.
Who issues the Digital Certificate?
The Digital Certificate is issued by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre from its digital headquarters, which recently modernized its website. Now it is possible to obtain the Digital Certificate without going to identify yourself in an office of some administration, there is a video identification procedure that we can carry out with our iPhone without having to move and at a cost of €2.99.
Hence We start from the basis that we have already obtained our Digital Certificate, either in person or by video identification and we have been able to download it. Once that file is obtained (in .cer format or if we have exported it with a key it will be .p12), we have to take it to our iPhone.
How to install it on our iPhone?
There are different ways but two that are very easy, or we carry the certificate file to a localizable site in iCloud Drive or we send it to us by emailand once on our iPhone, with our email app, we open the file and save it in iCloud Drive.
Now we will only have to open the Files app, locate the place where we have saved the Certificate file and click on it. A box will open that will tell us that a Profile has been downloaded and that we have to complete the installation from the Settings app.
Within the Settings app, under the data of our Apple ID, we can see how a drop-down appears with “Downloaded profile”, from there you just have to Installand it will ask us for the password of said Certificate, the same one that we gave to obtain it.
A small note, we can use our Digital Certificate through Safaribut not through any other browser app that we have installed.
Apps that use the Digital Certificate
Citizen Folder
Right now the Administration app that can surprise you the most and is the most useful it may work out for you Clearly designed and very well organized, Citizen’s Folder aims to bring together all the digital information of each Spanish citizen.
It still requires the collaboration of all administrations, but little by little they are expanding the information available from them (whether they are state, regional and local), such as: social benefits (paternity, maternity, retirement, minimum vital income , etc.) and the history of the last year.
We can also consult our real estate, driver’s license points, vehicles and ITVs, university and non-university degrees, non-existence of records, large family status and disability, registration, university enrollment, degree of dependency, working life, etc.
We can download all this data from the application itself in PDF or in an authenticated QR to include in our Wallet app and will remain in the My Documents section to be consulted again.
But not only that, we will be able to consult our open files in different Public Administrations. At the moment almost all the agencies of the General State Administration are connected and there are also 11 Autonomous Communities adhered to.
Also very useful is its Citizen Calendar that indicates the dates for filing declarations, now that we have General Elections just around the corner, the deadlines to request a vote by mail and to vote by mail, as well as the dates for renewing your card and passport.
The goal is that all our valuable administrative data, are available for our consultation through this app. The road is long but the result so far is very good. Let’s hope they give it continuity and it doesn’t stay in another Administration app that falls into disuse.
Tax agency
I don’t have to expand on this app to explain to you what it’s about. The Tax Agency app allows us to consult all our tax data and communications with the Agency itself.
It is quite useful in terms of consulting tax data, consulting personal income tax returns from previous years, presenting the current year’s Income Statement or consulting the status of processing.
It is still difficult to make the Income Statement from the iPhone, due to the amount of data and its visualization that can make us dizzy in the case of declarations that are not entirely simple, but having it, you have the possibility.
If one day you receive an SMS from the Tax Agency informing you that you have a communication available, something that usually scares the same as when the Civil Guard stops you on the road, you can consult it at the moment and know instantly if they are going to crack or not .
MyDGT
The DGT app is still in its infancy, it is a beginning of digitization that It will allow you to carry your driving license(s) and the documentation related to the vehicles of which you are the owner always with you on your iPhone. Although for that there is still.
You can also check your balance of points and your sanctions at the moment. Notices and payments of sanctions, the purchase of fees, the request for an appointment at Traffic offices or for the main procedures that you need in relation to your permits and vehicles will soon be enabled.
Keep in mind that once you have the app, you will no longer be able to pretend to be clueless with the penalties you receive from Traffic, although in the digital age we can rarely be untraceable or absent from our home. The future is to receive notifications on our device, and we always carry that with us.
Social Security
Another app that is still in development and offers a performance well below expectations, but we will have to trust that it will rise and reach the level that is expected to come out of our taxes.
With this app in theory we can receive our Social Security notificationsvery useful when we are discharged and discharged from work, obtain certificates, consultations and personal reports of the Social Security.
In theory, you can also request appointments to carry out the procedures in person, but this functionality allows you to make appointments whenever you want.
It has to improve a lot, and especially in its user interface, which is not detailed or consistent with the apps we are used to seeing.
