The submarine lost on the Titanic uses an old Logitech controller from 2005

Apparently he used a Logitech model from almost two decades ago to drive the entire sub. Somewhat surprising given the cost of this which would not exceed €30 or €40.

This would be the controller used, a version of the year 2005 and that was used as a control to play on computers. Very simple and adapted to the time, without lights, without battery, without anything that we know now, but thatIt seemed to work well for controlling an entire submarine.. Or at least they thought so, since he left a few days ago to bring some tourists closer to see the remains of the Titanic, however, he never returned.

In the following Twitter video you can see what the entire capsule was like, and in it they show us the famous remote they used. You can watch it at the end of it.

For now, no indication of where they may be missing has been found, and therefore neither the causes, but the fact of using a controller from so many years ago and designed to play a few games and not control an entire submarine makes us think it could be one of the causes. I had a similar one in its time and it must be said that those joysticks were not of the best quality that we can find, and that they loosened or failed was common, and more so for its price.

Since the news broke, the model has been searched all over the net, running out of stock many pages and even being revalued on second-hand websites of people who had it at home. For now there is still a loose unit on Amazon, so if you want to try it yourself or even keep it as a collector’s item, you are on time.

In the previous video you can see how the joysticks would have been replaced or modified to make navigation more comfortable, however, the control model remains exactly the same.

We hope that the people on board are well and we manage to see them safe and sound again, but not if not, we will be aware of what was the reason they did not return and if we manage to find out one day we will keep you informed, to see if the cause was that old command or not.

This is news that never ceases to amaze us, I at least imagined that the control handled by an entire submarine would be worth thousands of euros and not about €30, that is if they did not take it second-hand from home, since buying it new to use it that way and that this model was chosen is a bit strange too. But hey, we don’t know about submarines, so… who knows how others will be. Surely if they use a similar system they will think twice.
