This is how workers behave in Spain with respect to absenteeism and lateness

The company GeoVictoria has revealed the behavior of Spanish workers, through a study, in which the percentages of tardiness, tardiness and non-attendance are shown. Are more workers absent depending on the day of the week?

After the pandemic, the return to face-to-face attendance has been developing gradually and, in many cases, with a response not always positive by the workers.

Iria Najarro Iglesias, commercial director of the company talks about it “According to the data obtained through our attendance software, the highest rates of justified absenteeism They take place on Mondays and Fridays. This means that, normally, we ask for those days more frequently as vacations or other types of leaves, such as in the case of moving or medical. However, the most alarming fact is that unjustified absenteeism is also on the rise, even doubling justified absenteeism”.

As proof of this, the study provides the following data: on Mondays justified absenteeism increases by 8.77% and, for its part, the unjustified doubles it, reaching a high 17.87%.

In the case of Friday is equal, being 17.09% the rate of unjustified absenteeism and 8.7% that of justified cases.

What happens when we include the working day on Saturdays and Sundays?Another of the striking data is that employees who work on weekends arrive later to their posts, which may be due to the fact that there is less supervision by the company and there are fewer employees. However, the justified absenteeism rate is lower, at 5.55%”, Najarro adds.

From January to December

As in the case of the days of the week, in Spain, work behavior it also changes according to the month in which we meet. This is demonstrated by the data from the study carried out by GeoVictoria, which reveals a higher percentage of delay in the second half of the year.

The data provided indicate that we are more punctual in the months of January and February, being able to refer to the good resolutions of the new year. On the other hand, we are less so in August, September and December, months in which we return from summer vacations and the rhythm of routine changes. In addition to the fact that, at the end of the year, you can notice a greater fatigue that is added to the dinners and Christmas events, causing one of the highest rates of delays”, explains the commercial director.

This can be seen reflected in the figures they share, in which the lateness of January and February is only 7.24% and 7.91%, while in the month of August it doubles with 13.93% and is followed by the month of December with 13.61%.
