VEN.AI, new automated parking solution for vehicles

NTT DATA, Valeo and Embotech have created a consortium to offer automated parking solutions, called VEN.AI. The consortium combines the capabilities of each company, including intellectual property, state-of-the-art technology, sales and support structure, and a robust operations offering.

The solution guides vehicles through the use of sensors, connectivity (e.g. 5G) and offboard computing to a dedicated parking spot for it. This tool can be applied in various use cases, such as in assembly plants where vehicles are produced, outbound logistics distribution parks, warehouses for vehicle fleet operators, retail outlets, or the automated valet parking.

In the initial phase, VEN.AI is focused on helping car manufacturers improve and increase the efficiency of their assembly lines, automatically guiding vehicles from one production station to another. This will save time and costs.

VEN.AI adds value to the sector throughout the entire life cycle of the product, from the exit of the assembly line to its use by the final consumer. In an increasingly competitive market, the options for the sector in Spain to continue being one of the main vehicle manufacturers in the world go through the application of solutions that increase the efficiency of logistics operations. In addition, the use of enabling technologies, such as 5G, in which our country is in a situation of advanced maturity with respect to other geographies in our environment will allow accelerating their implementation “has explained Paul MartinPartner Responsible for the Automotive Sector at NTT DATA Spain.

«NTT DATA innovations including advances in edge computing, network monitoring and advanced connectivity have enabled the launch of VEN.AI which will make mobility much more easier and more energy efficient for consumers, car manufacturers and more.” “This global partnership has led to cutting-edge innovation that rapidly addresses the digital transformation that our global automotive customers urgently need to streamline their production process”explains Robb Rasmussen, Global Chief Marketing Officer at NTT DATA.

An efficient parking system

For its part, Valeo is responsible for supplying the technology necessary for the parking system to function properly. The supplied sensors are used to detect and locate cars in the parking area, as well as to understand the surrounding environment. The algorithms then use this information to precisely guide the car to an available parking space.

«We are delighted to participate in this automated parking project together with NTT DATA and Embotech.said Marc Vrecko, president of Valeo Driving Assistance and Comfort Systems. «Fully automated parking is growing, due to the growing demand from our customers, and Valeo has all the assets to respond to this market: we have the most complete portfolio of sensors, that offers the vehicle a complete vision. And having accurate insight is key to ensuring that vehicles park safely and efficiently.and.”

The security it is a key component of VEN.AI by integrating the latest technological innovations, including the use of cameras, light detection, low latency connectivity, and sensors. The system has been designed to meet security requirements and standards.

“VEN.AI demonstrates that autonomous driving, when used in the right context, has an immediate business case with the potential to alter the future of automobile manufacturing and distribution,” comments Andreas Kyrtatos, CEO of Embotech. «For this company, innovation is core and it is dedicated to bringing sustainable autonomy to the manufacture and distribution of automobiles.”
