A market opportunity

Vinow arises at a particularly delicate moment for the Spanish wine sector. The high inflation and the notorious increase in temperatures have led to a lower consumption of wine in Spain. In fact, according to the latest report published by the Spanish Wine Interprofessional Organization (OIVE), consumption fell by 8.2% in December 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year. what it means a decrease of 9.59 million hectoliters.

In January 2023, the price of wine it became more expensive by 9% according to the CPI of the INE, being the most expensive January of the entire historical series. This is also due to the fact that wine was left out of the VAT reduction applied by the Government on basic foods.

E-commerce and delivery are valued in Spain at about €500 million. After the growth experienced during the months of the pandemic, the data provided by The NPD Group shows that in Spain there are more than 400 million food delivery orders per year, with a turnover of around 2,600 million euros for the sector. It can also be seen that the orders are for 2.8 people with an average cost of 6.4 euros per diner. This is an 80% growth compared to the figures for 2019. In this context, the wine delivery service is trying to make a name for itself.

The trend shows that wine consumption is becoming more select, that is, more is spent but less is consumed, in such a way that wines of a higher quality and price are opted for.

Vinow’s goal is none other than reach the young audience and digitize a sector apparently stagnant in time such as the wine sector. In addition, and given the recognition and appreciation that Spanish wineries have internationally, it is expected that this App will soon be able to expand into international markets satisfying the demanding gastronomic demands of the users.

With only a few days on the market, the Vinow delivery App has been gradually increasing its number of downloads, in such a way that it has allowed the company to set some turnover expectations of between 8 and 10 million euros in its first year of operations.
