Western Digital has expanded its catalog of external memory cards with a SanDisK microSD that is certified for use with the Nintendo Switch console and is the highest capacity in the series with 1TByte.
The size of the games continues to increase at levels never seen before and on platforms like the PC you can find triple-A games that far exceed 100 Gbytes. On consoles, more of the same. Hence, products such as microSD cards are so useful to increase storage capacity on devices that support them like Switch consoles.
Coinciding with the launch of the successful ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’ (10 million copies in the first three days), Western Digital has improved its offer by increasing the capacity of the cards it sells under license from Nintendo.
“After 30 years as a favorite, The Legend of Zelda series continues to capture the hearts and minds of gamers around the world… We are very excited to offer the new card to fans and, thanks to the agreement with Nintendo, to continue introducing products that help gamers get the most out of their Switch console experience”says Susan Park, Western Digital’s vice president of Global Strategic Partnerships.
The card is sold under the SanDisk brand and in microSDXC format, offering read and write speeds of up to 100 / 90 Mbytes per second, respectively. The best comes from its storage capacity, since it has doubled compared to the largest that until now was offered for the Nintendo console up to 1 Tbyte.
SanDisK’s new microSD for Switch with 1TB will be available immediately on the Western Digital web portal and at select retailers for €179.99. If you don’t need that much, under the same series in collaboration with Nintendo other versions are sold with 512, 256, 128 and 64 Gbytes that are priced at only 29 euros. In all cases the manufacturer offers a lifetime guarantee for these memory cards.
