WhatsApp will soon let you delete your very old messages

The WhatsApp application will allow all its users to delete old messages for all participants of a conversation. The application will thus extend the maximum duration for deleting a message. A function that will gradually be deployed on Android and iOS.

WhatsApp is increasingly listening to its users and is constantly working to add certain features to its application. WhatsApp, for example, now allows you to mute a contact’s microphone during a group call and the company is even working on innovative 3D avatars. But the instant messaging application does not stop there and will also offer a brand new feature.

Thus, it will soon be possible to delete old messages for all participants in a conversation. A very nice addition that all users of the application should appreciate. In particular because WhatsApp has been integrating a fairly restrictive message deletion service since 2017.

It is now possible to delete very old messages on WhatsApp

The functionality that allowed you to delete messages for everyone on a conversation already existed on WhatsApp. But the fast messaging application allowed since 2017 to only delete the message if it was sent within the last hour (1 hour 8 minutes and 16 seconds for extremely precise). In the event of bad messages, errors or things that should not be said on a WhatsApp conversation, the user then had to be relatively quick to delete their message from all participants.

An important detail that WhatsApp has apparently decided to fix today. In a beta released today, the app installed a new time limit for deleting messages. The delay has been completely extended from 1 hour 8 minutes and 16 seconds to 2 days and 12 hours maximum. A novelty that will undoubtedly give users much more time for them to decide to delete or return to one of their messages.

This new option is added to another which is also part of it. Because now, WhatsApp group admins will also be able to delete messages from anyone in the group. And that with no time limit.

These novelties therefore land in the beta 2.22.4.10 on Android and should arrive in the coming weeks for all users, including those on iOS.
