Windows 11 version 22H2 has just received a fairly significant new update, numbered KB5025305. The patch introduces a switch that allows users to prioritize their PC to receive feature updates before other devices. Entitled ” Receive the latest updates as they become available the switch is on the Windows Update page in the Settings app.

If you want to keep your computer up to date and test new features as soon as possible, so this option is for you. However, its activation is not necessarily a good idea for all users, we explain why.

Enabling the option on Windows 11 may not be a good idea

While the option to receive updates immediately is useful, it comes with a risk. In effect, early adopters can potentially fall victim to a bug, and the risk of encountering one is always present. With each new update, Microsoft comes to fix a few issues, but sometimes new issues are added by mistake.

Waiting a bit to receive an update can minimize the risk of encountering a bug, especially with feature updates.

Note that the new update also brings some changes to the aesthetics of the icon of widgets in the taskbar. Users may have already seen this change in test builds, but it is now present in the final version of Windows 11. The optional update will soon arrive for all Windows 11 PCs, as it will be rolled out to all users as a cumulative update for the month of May.
